A
Devotional Journey Through the Psalms: Psalm 67

God be
merciful to us and bless us,
And cause His face to shine upon us,
That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.
And cause His face to shine upon us,
That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him (Psalm 67:6-7).
One of the greatest blessings I have ever received came when I was 21 years of age. At the time, I was a Bible school student dating Charlene Solum.

One of the greatest blessings I have ever received came when I was 21 years of age. At the time, I was a Bible school student dating Charlene Solum.
We were in love and I wanted to marry her, but before I proposed I wanted to have the blessing of her father.
That opportunity happened during a weekend visit to Charlene’s home. Her parents lived in a small farming community in northwest Minnesota. When we arrived I was invited by her father to help him cut some firewood in a wooded area near their house. It was during that time when I gathered the courage to ask him if I could have his blessing to marry Charlene. In a kind and affirming way he replied, “I couldn’t think of having a finer son-in-law.”
That one statement brought two life-changing blessings into my life. One was the privilege of being welcomed into the Solum family, the other was the joy of knowing that Charlene would be my wife. Those two blessings brought a river of blessings that have flowed abundantly for over sixty-two years.
From a kingdom perspective, God has made available the two greatest blessings anyone could ever receive. One is the gift of His Son (in whom dwells every spiritual blessing), and the other is to become a part of His forever family. From these two blessings all other blessings flow, including the gift of salvation and fellowship with the body of Christ.
Insight: God’s blessings to His children are an extension of His goodness, kindness, favor and generosity. These blessings are grace gifts that enrich, prosper, help, and encourage those who belong to Him.
Insight: God’s blessings in your life…it can’t get any better than that!
