Part 44: Knowing God's Best...Walking in Rest

Part 44: Knowing God's Best...Walking in Rest
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. (Romans 11:36).

Walking in Rest!
Rest is trusting God for everything and in everything. He is rest to your ears, for He speaks in a still small voice...your eating, for He will bless your food and water...your body, for He is your health...your labors, for He will reward you...your family, for He will build your house...your children, for they will be taught of the Lord...your trials, for He will not allow you to go through more than you can bear...your decisions, for He will guide you with His eye...your future, for He prepares the way before you.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Humility

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Humility
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promise

In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter 5:5-6 NLT

Prayer
God, I thank You that You are our all-in-all, that You are above all, and that You rule over all that is in heaven and on earth.

Thank you for those who You place over our lives, and for using them to help shape us, to mold our character, to conform us to Your image, and to help prepare us for the things You have prepared for us.

I pray that children will be honoring of those that you have placed over them, that they will give honor to everyone, especially to the elderly, and that they will learn to know Your heart when You said, “I have not come to be served but to serve.”

May our hearts never be filled with pride, be puffed up, or look down upon others. May we be humble vessels who are aware of our needs, who are broken and contrite before You, and who realize, moment by moment, our total dependency upon Your grace.

Fret-Free Friday: Because

Fret-Free Friday: Because
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Because...

Because God's kingdom is unshakeable, we don't need to steady it.
Because God's provision of salvation is complete, we don't need to improve it.
Because God's love is boundless, we don't need to hoard it.
Because God's way is the best way, we don't need to change it.
Because God's Word is truth, we don't need to spin it.
Because God's hand can open any door, we don't need to force it.
Because God's timing is perfect, we don't need to rush it.
Because God's plan for us comes from a Father's heart, we don't need to fight it.

He Giveth More Grace

When we have exhausted our store of endurance
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Part 43: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 43: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
O LORD, you have searched me and you know me (Psalm 139:1 NIV).

Walking in Rest!
You can rest in the Lord because He knows you better than anyone else (You discern my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.), understands you more than anyone else (Before a word is on my tongue, You know it completely.), cares for you more than anyone else (You have laid Your hand upon me.), is nearer than anyone else (If I go to the heavens, You are there. If I make my bed in the depths, You are there...Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.), watches over you closer than anyone else (You created my inmost being: You knit me together in my mother's womb.), loves you more than anyone else (How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God. How vast is the sum of them.).

(You can read Psalm 139 here.)

My Monday Prayer: Truth in Relationships

My Monday Prayer: Truth in Relationships
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Just as we can pray this prayer for the children in our life, we can pray it over ourselves. It is important that we remember that we are still a child of God, and can continue to grow in our relationship with Him.
-Marina

Promise
My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them! My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths. Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. Proverbs 1:10,15 (NLT), 1 Corinthians 15:33 (AMP)

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the truth and light we receive from Your Word. Thank you that Your wisdom can keep us from going through heartaches and sorrows that You never intended for us to know in our experience.

I pray that my children will learn to trust in Your Word in each decision they make; that they will know beyond a doubt that Your ways are the best; that they will be assured that You will not withhold anything from them that is good; that they will have the peace and satisfaction of knowing that their obedience to You means living without regrets.

I also ask that you will bless my children in their relationships throughout their lives. May they know what it means to be a good friend and may they always be blessed with good friends—those who are growing in faith, strong in character, upright in conduct, loyal and supportive, true and trusting, helpful and kind-of-heart.

Fret-Free Friday: All He Is, He Is for You

Fret-Free Friday: All He Is, He Is for You
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Everything God is today He has always been; everything that He has always been He will always be.

Yesterday, God was with you. Today, God is with you. Tomorrow, God will be with you.

Was He your peace yesterday? He will be your peace today. Is He your peace today? He will be your peace tomorrow. Is He your provider today? He will be your provider tomorrow.

The psalmist wrote:
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages] (Isaiah 26:3-4 AMP).

...

God is
all that is good,
all that is right,
all that is love.
He's in control of
all that concerns you!

Part 42: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 42: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5 NLT

Walking in Rest!
To rest is to realize that God is your all in all. Rest is never a 90 percent issue; it is always 100 percent. The only thing you can do without God is fail. The only way the Christian life is meant to be lived is in total dependency upon Him. Without Him no fruit remains, no gifts abide, no hope prevails, no strength endures,  no love conquerors, no faith overcomes.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Instruction

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Instruction
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Remember to pray this prayer over you, as well as any children in your life. We need to give permission to God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to speak truth in instruction to us.
-Marina

Promise
My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck. Proverbs 1:8-9 NLT

Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for the place and privilege you have given me in the lives of my children. I am so grateful that you have ordained for me, by Your grace and Holy Spirit, to speak into their lives through a right example, with wise words, with loving correction, and with practical instruction.

I pray that we will continue to grow in wisdom as we hear Your instruction, read Your word, and learn from the circumstances and relationships You bring into our lives.

I pray that our children will always be good hearers and listeners of Your voice, and strong followers of Your will. Help them to see life from Your point of view and to always live with the values of eternity before them as they make choices.

I ask that they will learn to know Your voice; that they will treasure Your truth in their hearts; that will seek out Your approval. May they live each day with the crown of Your grace upon their heads and the chain of Your honor and favor around their necks.

Fret-Free Friday: Peace Beyond Our Understanding

Fret-Free Friday: Peace Beyond Our Understanding
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Turn all your anxiety over to God because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7 GW).

We don't need to know everything, have everything, or figure everything out to experience peace. In this life on earth, not everything will be known, understood, explained, or resolved. We need to let go of the idea that we must be in control of our lives, our families, and our future. God's control over us is enough. We can trust Him and walk in His peace.

Gaze into the mirror
at the look upon your face.
Is it tense and full of worry
or calm and full of grace?
Gaze into the mirror
    and see what's shining through.
Does it show a heart that's trusting
in the One who cares for you?

Part 41: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 41: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7 NLT

Walking in Rest!
I wait on God to bring to pass all He has promised me,
and as I wait, I rest in faith in what I cannot see.
For in His way He will provide at just the perfect time
everything that's good and right to bless this life of mine.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Character

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Character
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promise
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Philippians 1:9-11 (NLT)

Prayer
Father, bless my children and make them a blessing. May Christ be formed in them. As their Potter, shape and mold their character and use them where You place them. I know that all You make is beautiful!

Help them to know how to follow You so that they will know how to lead others; help them to know how to give freely so that they will know how to prosper in the true riches of Your kingdom; help them to know how to yield to Your will so that they will know how to stand strong in Your grace and sufficiency.

May they be wise students, good workers, supportive team members, and loyal companions. Help them live productive and fruitful lives.

Teach them to walk as You walked and to honor their Father in Heaven as You honored Him when You walked upon the earth. May their days be long, may their hearts be full, may their lives be enriched, and may their blessings be abundant.

Fret-Free Friday: A Proclamation of Hope

Fret-Free Friday: A Proclamation of Hope
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

A Proclamation of Hope

[We] rejoice in hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:2).

God, You are glorious! Because of who You are, I have hope in what You've promised to do. My future truly is as bright as the light on Your face that reflects it, as sure as the words upon Your lips that proclaim it, as powerful as the strength of Your right hand that performs to bring it about.

I am confident there are desirable things ahead because You are good. There are perfect things ahead because You are without fault. There are abundant things ahead because You are generous. There are undefiled things ahead because You are holy. There are amazing things ahead because You are wondrous. There are huge things ahead because Your heart is so big.

Part 40: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 40: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...

For you shall not go out in haste, and you shall not go in flight, for the LORD will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard. Isaiah 52:12 ESV

Walking in Rest!
You can rest in knowing that God is always ahead of you and always prepares things before He has you walk in them. He made all things before He made you...He loved you before you gave your heart to Him...He came to you before you searched for Him...He possessed all things before you had a need...He knew all things before you had a question...He finished His work of redemption before He began His work in you...He promised never to leave you before He asked you to go...He declared His victory before He asked you to turn everything over to Him.
