My Morning Prayer: A Prayer of Humility

My Morning Prayer: A Prayer of Humility
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promise

In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter 5:5-6 NLT

Prayer
God, I thank You that You are our all-in-all, that You are above all, and that You rule over all that is in heaven and on earth.

Thank you for those who You place over our lives, and for using them to help shape us, to mold our character, to conform us to Your image, and to help prepare us for the things You have prepared for us.

I pray that children will be honoring of those that you have placed over them, that they will give honor to everyone, especially to the elderly, and that they will learn to know Your heart when You said, “I have not come to be served but to serve.”

May our hearts never be filled with pride, be puffed up, or look down upon others. May we be humble vessels who are aware of our needs, who are broken and contrite before You, and who realize, moment by moment, our total dependency upon Your grace.
