Jesus' Three Greatest Triumphs; A Resurrection Devotion

Jesus’ Three Greatest Triumphs
-Roy Lessin

Triumph #1
Jesus Won

Jesus’ victory on the cross was the victory of all victories. No one on earth or in the heavens could have done it. No way! Impossible! If Jesus lost, all was lost, and we would be without salvation.

Jesus defeated every enemy—sin, death, hell;
every foe—Satan, demons, principalities;
every dominion—kingdoms of the world, powers of evil, strongholds of darkness.

Forgiveness is ours, deliverance is ours, redemption is ours, and hope is ours because Jesus won!

Christ has utterly wiped out the damning evidence of broken laws and commandments which always hung over our heads, and completely annulled it by nailing it over his own head on the cross. And then, having drawn the sting of all the powers ranged against us, he exposed them, shattered, empty and defeated, in his final glorious triumphant act! -Colossians 2:14-15 Phillips

Triumph #2
Jesus is Winning

Today, Jesus brings His victory to our defeated lives. He who overcame every enemy now lives His overcoming life in us. In our spiritual warfare He is winning the fight, in our defenselessness He is our armor, in a world that is falling apart He is our solid rock and sure foundation.

Jesus has not left us alone, but has sent the Holy Spirit to fill us, empower us, and equip us. It is the Holy Spirit in us who is making it possible for us to walk in Jesus’ winning ways.

Thanks be to God who leads us, wherever we are, on Christ’s triumphant way and makes our knowledge of Him spread throughout the world like a lovely perfume!
-2 Corinthians 2:14 Phillips

May He effect in you everything that pleases Him through Jesus Christ.
-Hebrews13:21 Phillips

Triumph #3
Jesus Wins

For all who wonder what the future holds, it is this...Jesus wins! He who has won on the cross, who is winning in us by the Holy Spirit’s presence, will reveal His majesty over all things when He comes again. It is then, when every eye shall see Him that He will reign upon the earth. What a day! What a triumph it will be!

It is Jesus’ name that every tongue shall confess. It is King Jesus to whom every knee shall bend. All things will be under Jesus’ feet. He will rule with righteous authority. The rod of iron will be in His hand.  It is Jesus who will have the final say. He is the first and the last. He has the keys of Hades and death. He alone will be worthy to take the scroll and open its seals. He alone is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing. His win will be forever!

It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the thirsty water without price from the fountain of life. The victorious shall inherit these things. -Revelation 21:6-7 Phillips

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Release
-Roy Lessin

I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. 2 Timothy 1:12 NLT

Heavenly Father, I release to You the burdens that I have been carrying, burdens that You never intended for me to carry. I cast all my cares upon You—all my worries, all my fears. You have told me not be anxious about anything, but rather to bring everything to You in prayer with thankfulness.

Father, calm my restless spirit, quiet my anxious heart, still my troubling thoughts with the assurance that You are in control. I let go of my grip upon the things I have been hanging onto, with opened hands I come to You. I release to Your will all that I am trying to manipulate; I release to Your authority all that I am trying to control; I release to Your timing all that I have been striving to make happen.

I thank You for Your promise to sustain me, preserve me, and guard all that I have entrusted to Your keeping. Protect my heart and mind with Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding. Father, may Your will be done in my life, in Your time, and in Your way.

Fret-Free Friday: "Will Be"

Fret-Free Friday: "Will Be"
-Roy Lessin, Fret Busters

"Will Be!"
Not "might be."
Not "could be."

What a blessed reality; what a magnificent truth; what a hope-filled promise from the God of all hope. His "will be" is our hope in dark times, troubled times, uncertain times, changing times. So what "will be"?

He will be!
His return will be!
His reign will be!
His righteousness will be.
Your place with Him will be.
Your inheritance in Him will be.

The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here.
-Romans 13:12 NLT

...

Keep this
HOPE
in your heart.

Keep the
DAY
of
SALVATION
in your planner.

Keep this
LIGHT
in your eye.

Jesus, The Passover Lamb

Jesus, the Passover Lamb
-Roy Lessin

Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.

1 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT)

Passover begins this Saturday at sunset. There are many elements within the Passover feast that point us to Jesus’ glorious work of redemption. The instructions that God gave to Israel on the night He redeemed them from the bondage of Egypt, had a far greater meaning in His eternal plan. This eternal plan included the death of His own Son, whose blood would be shed upon the cross to redeem us from our sins.

The redemptive work of Jesus is portrayed in the lamb of Passover. The requirements for the offering of the lamb are recorded in the twelfth chapter of Exodus.

The Passover could not have taken place for the Jewish people in Egypt without the taking of a lamb from the flock to be sacrificed.

Jesus was the Lamb of God, sacrificed for us.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29 (NKJV)

The Passover lamb that was chosen had to be without blemish.

Jesus was without the blemish of sin.

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NKJV)

The Passover lamb was identified as the lamb of redemption.

Jesus is our redeemer.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14 (NKJV)

The Passover lamb was to be slain.

Jesus was slain upon the cross.

…"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain

To receive power and riches and wisdom,

And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
Revelation 5:12
 (NKJV)

The Passover lamb’s blood had to be shed and applied to the door posts and lintel of each home to be saved from the judgment of death.

Jesus’ shed blood provides salvation when applied (appropriated) by faith to our hearts.

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV)

The Passover lamb was to be brought into the home, prepared, and partaken of by each family member.

Jesus must be received into the heart (partaken of) through faith by all who desire to become God’s children.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
John 1:12 (NKJV)

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer for Guidance

Heavenly Father, You have promised to guide me, instruct me, and direct my steps. I need to hear Your voice, know Your will, sense Your guidance. I acknowledge You as the One who is wholly and uniquely able and qualified to lead and direct my life. I thank You that You have not asked me to try and figure everything out, to trust in my own reasoning, or to rely upon my understanding of what is best for me.

Father, I receive Your wisdom, knowing that every decision You make is the right decision and the one that is always the best that can be made. You do all things well! I trust in Your timing to bring into my life the right things at the right time, and to keep from me anything I am not ready to receive, no matter how good it may appear.

I believe that as You guide me I will find strength in Your grace, power in Your Spirit, assurance in Your Word, contentment in Your provision, fulfillment in Your purpose. I ask that You will open every door that needs to be opened and close every door that needs to be closed. Lead me and bring me into Your desired place. I want to walk each day with Your peace in my heart. Thank You, Father, that no matter what, I can put my complete trust in You.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 6

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 6
Roy Lessin

How is it possible to live free from worry? Living free from worry doesn't mean that our needs will disappear. It means our needs will be met by God, who is our Provider. When we stay focused on what our needs are, we open our hearts to worry; when we stay focused on who God is, we open our hearts to peace.

Thankfully, we have a Master who not only gives us rest from our labor, but He also gives us rest in our labor. We have a Master who is our rest.

Jesus said, "Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile." (Mark 6:31 NLT).

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 NLT).

Rest in the LORD (Psalm 37:7).
...
God said, I am here with you.
All that I am is here...
All My love is here.
All My goodness is here.
All My righteousness is here.
All My grace is here.
All My strength is here.
All My ways, My works, My wisdom,
My wonders are here!
Is there anything too hard for Me?

My Anchor Holds

My Anchor Holds
-Roy Lessin

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Hebrews 6:19 NLT

God has provided an anchor for you as you sail upon the rough seas of the times in which we live. The purpose of an anchor is to keep a craft safe and secure by preventing it from drifting into unwanted waters due to powerful winds or strong currents.

What is the anchor God has given you for your journey? Hebrews 6:19 says your anchor is HOPE.

What makes your anchor an anchor of hope? It is the Rock to which it holds.

Your Rock is Jesus! Your hope is anchored to a Rock that will never go away or change. In the midst of the stormy sea around us, the Spirit wants you to know, “Your anchor holds!”...and so it does...upon the solid Rock.

If someone today should ask you how you are doing, may I suggest the following reply...

“My anchor holds!”

A Prayer of Hope

Father, thank You for being the God of hope and my hope. You alone are the source and the reason for my hope. Because of You, I can pray in hope; walk in hope; believe in hope; endure in hope; overcome in hope; live in hope.

When I look to the future I have hope because You are already in the future. I have a future that is secure because You are my future. Father, it is Your hope that frees me from the despair of hopelessness and the insecurity of false hope.

When I look ahead, I do not see the details clearly, but I see You, the One who is in all the details of what is ahead. I believe in Your plan and purpose for my life. You have assured me that I will never be disappointed as I trust in You.

Thank You for the confidence Your hope gives me to be faithful today and to move forward in the pathway You have for my tomorrows.  I put my expectations, not in others, but in You. I am confident that all Your desires for me are good. The hope You give me brings happiness and rejoicing to my heart.

Thank You, Father, for being the Author of all the chapters of my life that are yet to come. Thank You that my life will have a happy ending because I will be with You forever, in the place that You have prepared for me and for all those who have put their trust in Your salvation through Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 5

Confidence is not based on you having all the resources needed to take care of yourself. True confidence is based on the truth that God is faithful.

A Benediction

I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers (3 John 1:2 AMP, brackets in original).

May all things be well with you.
May you do well,
choose well,
think well,
love well,
serve well,
feel well,

and stay well
as you continue to trust
in the only One
who does all things well.

God is Calling Your Name

God is Calling Your Name
-Roy Lessin, Jesus Name Above All Names

Starting with a humble birth in a stable, God draws you to a place of worship, leads you to the quiet waters of salvation, shares the peace of His presence, reveals the simplicity of the cross, and offers the utterly amazing gift that only Love could give—His only begotten Son.

If you feel a longing to know more about God and eternal life through His Son, open your heart to Him through this prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You came to earth and died on a cross so that I can be forgiven. I admit that I am a sinner—I have done wrong and I need Your grace, mercy, and forgiveness. I turn from my sins and say "no" to a life of living for myself. I turn to You and say "yes" to Your will for my life. Thank You for being my Savior. I ask You now to forgive my sin. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for giving me new life, eternal life. Amen.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Peace
By Roy Lessin

Lord Jesus, I thank You that You are the Prince of Peace and that You have promised to give me Your peace. I receive Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding, the peace that assures me of Your presence, the peace that confirms Your love, the peace that guards my every thought and each emotion.

Thank You that You have come, not to trouble me, but to give me Your rest; not to confuse me, but to give me clarity; not to bind me, but to free me; not to stress me, but to quiet me. Thank You for a peace that endures the trial, overcomes the battle, conquerors the foe, and keeps me steady through the storm.

Thank You, Lord, for complete peace, for perfect peace, for a peace that keeps my heart from being troubled. Come now and fill me with Your peace. Thank You for the perfect peace that comes when I put my trust in You. Let it wash over me and flood my innermost being. Show me the ways of peace, keep in the paths of peace, guide me in the decisions that lead to peace. Jesus, be my peace today.

Fret-Free Friday: What Makes Prayer Possible?

Fret-Free Friday: What Makes Prayer Possible? -Roy Lessin

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Each of us has a need to pray and we carry many requests in our hearts. But have you ever wondered why we can pray at all? How is it possible for us, who by nature are unholy, to come confidently and boldly before a holy God?

God does not hear or answer prayer based upon our merit. Thankfully, God has not left it up to us to earn our way into His presence.

The way for us to come confidently and boldly to God in prayer is by the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ blood is the perfect, complete, and eternally acceptable way into God’s presence. Without the blood of Jesus none of us could come before God and pray.

We cannot add to Jesus’ blood atonement and we cannot diminish its power. Our good deeds do not gain us access to God, and our failures do not cancel our access.

Whenever you draw near to God in prayer always keep your eyes of faith upon the blood of Jesus. If you look upon yourself, instead of Jesus’ blood, your prayer life will suffer and the devil will quickly accuse you of being unworthy, or tempt you to “do more” so you can become worthy.

How precious is the blood of Jesus. His blood cleanses you, covers you, and makes the throne of God a place of grace and not judgement.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
And having a high priest over the house of God;
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. -Hebrews 10:19-23

Jesus: All in All

Jesus: All in All
-Roy Lessin, Jesus Name Above All Names

Christ is all, and in all. -Colossians 3:11

In baseball, if one team scores all the runs, the other team is shut out. If one candidate receives all the votes in an election, the other candidate loses by a landslide. If a doctor tells you to take all of your medicine, he wants nothing left over. The word all is another way God affirms to us who Jesus, His Son, truly is. If Jesus is the all of God, it means that God has eliminated every other option.

Although it has only three letters, the word all has huge implications. All means total, complete, or whole. Jesus Christ is God's All in All.

All things are reconciled by Jesus—"By Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross" (Colossians 1:20 NKJV). And all promises are fulfilled in Jesus—"For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding 'Yes!' And through Christ, our 'Amen' (which means 'Yes) ascends to God for his glory" (2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT).

All God's fullness, all God's treasures of wisdom and knowledge, all God's authority, all God's power, all God's blessings, all God's promises are yours today if you are in Christ. God has no other plan, no other purpose, no other provision,  and no other person for you other than Jesus Christ.

My Monday Prayer for the Week...
A Prayer of Help, Protection, and Deliverance

Lord, I thank you that You are a Warrior, and You never know defeat; You are a Conqueror and every enemy is under Your feet; You are a Deliverer and every foe will sound retreat.

I thank You, O God, that you preserve me. I take refuge in You and I am safe from every cloud of darkness, from every voice of condemnation, from every thought of defeat and despair. I put my trust and confidence in You alone. I lean on You, for You will not falter or faint. You are my support and keep me from falling. You are my high tower and keep me from fleeing. You are my confidence and keep me from fearing.

Thank You, God, for being with me, beside me, behind me, and before me. You are always at my right hand and keep me secure. What joy it brings to know that when I call to You, You answer me. You are my perfect refuge from every storm and battle.

Thank You for being my sure place, and for providing me with the safe place under the shadow of Your wings. Lord, arise and rescue me from all evil, from every lie, and from every bondage. I stand upon You as my rock, I abide in You as my fortress. You are my covering. You are my shield. Thank You for saving me and for rescuing me from my enemies. You always hear my cry for help.

Scriptures: Psalm 16, 17, 18
