Part 23: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest

Part 23: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth.
 -Psalm 60:4 NKJV

Walking in Rest!
The triumph of rest within you can boldly wave four banners of victory and praise:
"I fear not, for God is with me."
"I am still, for I know that He is God."
"I take no thought of tomorrow, for God goes before me."
"I am anxious for nothing, for my life and times are in His hands."

My Monday Prayer: Nearness

We are excited to expand our series, “My Monday Prayer” to include intercessory prayers. These prayers were adapted from Roy's book, Prayers of Promise, to pray over children in our lives; our children, grandchildren, kids in our classrooms, children in our neighborhoods, even the coming generations! We ALL started off as “children” so there is no age limit to the “kids” we pray for. Let us grow in our faith as we pray for others to know Him in new ways and a deeper relationship. - Marina, for Meeting in the Meadow

-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promise
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting, solemn pledge, to be a God to you and to your posterity after you…and I will be their God. -Genesis 17:-7-8 AMP

Prayer
Father, according to Your covenant promise to Abraham, to always be our God and the God of our children, I ask that You will reveal Yourself to the hearts of these children and fulfill Your covenant promises to them.

You are the God who is faithful to every generation who loves and puts their trust in You. I thank You that You have shown Your faithfulness to generations past in countless ways and at countless times; that You have shown Your faithfulness to me, in my generation; and that You will show Yourself faithful to the generation to come.

I thank You that I can put my complete trust in You to be the God of these children at all times and in all ways. Be their God in their going out and coming in; in their choices and decisions of life; in their waiting times and busy times; in their happy times and in their times of sorrow; in their times of testing and in their times of celebration. I know that because You are always true to Your promises, these children will always find You faithful as they put their trust in You.

Fret-Free Friday: Kept by the Keeper

Fret-Free Friday: Kept by the Keeper
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand (Psalm 121:5).

God has no weaknesses and no place where He is vulnerable to attack. He is never helpless, defenseless, at risk, or in danger of a surprise attack. Nothing and no one can lead to His downfall. It is impossible for God to be defeated. This wonderful God is your keeper! He is your protector, shield, and fortress.

There is nothing that can separate you from Him, regardless of the battles you're in today. There is no separation between you and Your Captain, Your Warrior, and Your King. You march under Jesus's banner; you advance under His command; you conquer with the sword of His Word; you stand upon His authority; you resist under His rule. You are victorious because He is. You are strong because He is. You are an overcomer because He is.

Magnificence

All were astounded at the evidence of God's mighty power and His majesty and magnificence (Luke 9:43 AMP).

Only God can turn a life from...
    meaninglessness to purposefulness,
    barrenness to fruitfulness,
    heaviness to joyfulness,
    ugliness to loveliness,
    aimlessness to hopefulness,
    anxiousness to peacefulness.

These and so much more declare His magnificence!

Part 22: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 22: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
You, dear children,
are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. -1 John 4:4 NIV

Walking in Rest!
The great enemy of rest is the the enemy of your soul. He goes about as a roaring lion seeking to devour your peace. His goal is to place heaviness upon you, to accuse and falsely condemn you. He will challenge you to doubt God and tempt you to do evil.  He will lie to you about God's character and your relationship to Him. He will seek to confuse your thoughts and frustrate your actions. The way to keep your rest against his assaults is to expose his lies with truth...to affirm your faith against his doubt...to shine God's light upon his darkness...to resist when he says yield...say "thus it is written" when he says "has God said?" You can rightly reject every thought that is not of righteousness, peace or joy in your life.

My Monday Prayer:
Promise
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the Lord. Isaiah 54:13,17 NKJV
Prayer
Lord, I pray that each child I know will be taught by You. Be their teacher, their instructor, their guide. Teach them how to walk with You and learn from You. I pray that they will always know Your wisdom and Your ways above all. May they learn of You, see You, know You, and love You.

Above all voices, may they hear Your voice; above all pathways, may they know Your ways; above all advice, may they learn Your counsel; above all knowledge, may they have Your understanding; above all opinions, may they have Your wisdom.

I also ask that Your peace will be their peace; that Your peace will cover them and keep them; that Your peace shall guard their hearts and minds; that they will have peaceful thoughts and that they will walk in the ways of peace.
-Amen

Fret-Free Friday: The Center of His Heart

Fret-Free Friday: The Center of His Heart
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Who am I? I am God's child! I am a child of grace and mercy. Jesus looked upon me and came to me with healing in His wings—He saw an empty cup and filled it; He saw an unclean vessel and cleansed it; He saw a restless soul and brought it peace; He saw a lost sheep and brought it home; He saw a vain life and gave it meaning; He saw a selfish heart and baptized it in a river of holy love.

[Jesus said,] "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand" (John 10:29).

In the center of God's hand
you find the center of His will;
in the center of His will,
you find the center of His peace;
in the center of His peace,
you find the center of His love;
in the center of His love,
you find the center of His heart.

Part 21: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 21: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.  1 John 3:21-22 NIV

Walking in Rest!
An obedient life is a life at rest. Obedience keeps you from the many personal conflicts that result from wanting and seeking your own way. It keeps His peace in your heart, His strength in your spirit and His balm upon your soul. Obedience frees you from the need to defend your actions and protect your image. An obedient life is at rest because it knows that to obey is better than sacrifice...that God's approval is more important than man's...that the reward of the things gained far exceed the loss of the things that have been given up.

My Monday Prayer: The Power of Blessing
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus, “Took the children in His arms and placed His hands on their heads and blessed them.” Mark 10:16 NLT

God loves to bless the lives of children, and we have the awesome privilege of extending the blessing of God to each child we know. Your words can speak the blessing of God, your hands can impart the blessing of God, your heart can express the blessing of God. As you ask God to bless the children near you, you are asking for His best, His highest and His greatest good for their lives.

Children grow and thrive under the blessing of God. As you bless the children around you they will hear words of hope, encouragement and support. Prayers of blessing will not beat them down, but build them up; will not hurt them, but heal them; will not weaken them, but strengthen them; will not lead them astray, but help them follow the good God has for their lives.

Fret-Free Friday: Trust

Fret-Free Friday: Trust
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

You had faith in the creature, and it disappointed you; in earthly good, and it faded away; in your own heart, and it deceived you. Now, have faith in God! Call upon Him in your trouble, try Him in your trial, trust Him in your need, and see if He will not honor the faith that honors Him. "Have faith in God"—oh, what sweet words of Jesus, spoken to allure your weary spirit to its divine and blessed rest.
-Octavius Winslow

...

The praying spirit breathe,
The watching power impart,
From all entanglements beneath
Call off my anxious heart.
My feeble mind sustain,
By worldly thoughts oppressed;
Appear, and bid me turn again
To my eternal rest.
-Charles Wesley

...

God's voice is the best voice to hear, the most assuring voice to trust, the clearest voice to follow, the wisest voice to obey, the most recognizable voice to run to. Let the voice of God quiet your heart.

I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people (Psalm 85:8).

Father in heaven, I entrust my future into Your hands because You are the beginning and the end. You know the end from the beginning so I entrust my hopes into Your hands. You never lie so I entrust my labors into Your hands. You are my exceedingly great reward so I entrust my life into Your hands. You are the One who does all things well.

Part 20: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 20: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest! -Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Walking in Rest!
Rest means mixing everything with faith. A will that releases all to God and a heart that yields all to God can only do so with a faith that trusts all to God. When faith is mixed with a released will, it can say, "The Lord will do the right thing. His grace does abound toward me. I can do all things and face all things through Him. The burden is the Lord's." When mixed with a yielded heart, faith can say, "He is the Lord of me and all I possess. All I have is from Him and for Him. I have no greater love for I have Him."

My Monday Prayer: God Will Make a Way

My Monday Prayer: God Will Make a Way
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus, You are the Way and You are the way-maker. I will follow You as You go before me and prepare the way for what is ahead in Your plan.

I know that You will see to every detail so that what needs to be done will already be done before I arrive…the path revealed, the direction confirmed, the way established. I trust in You to unlock the doors that need to be opened, loosen the things that need to be untied, and remove the hindrances that need to be taken away.

I ask You to provide for all that is needed as I walk along your appointed path. Open my eyes to see the way You are leading, give me the understanding to take the right steps, strengthen me with the patience to move at the right pace, and work within my words and actions to say and do things in the right way.

I trust in You to do what no one else can do, to work in ways that no one else can work, and to do the wonders that no one else can perform. Lord, I thank You that You will make a way!

The LORD shall give that which is good…Righteousness shall go before Him; and shall set us in the way of His steps. Psalm 85:12-13 (KJV)

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)

Fret-Free Friday: A Prayer of Trust

Fret-Free Friday: A Prayer of Trust
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Lord, I trust in You. I believe in You. I hope in You. You are my confidence and my assurance. I lean on You because You are my Rock. I depend on You because You are my Provider. I delight in You because You are the joy of my life. My heart rests in You. My faith responds to You. My soul rejoices in You.

You are the true God who cannot lie and will never fail. You are the Lord, the almighty God, the Creator of all things. You are my Lord, my God, and my Maker.

You are my Keeper, and I am secure in You. You are my heavenly Father, and I am cared for by You. You are my Counselor, and I am guided by You. You are my shelter, and I am safe.

I trust You in my life—the wisdom of Your ways, the blessings of Your favor, the sufficiency of Your grace, the power of Your Spirit, and the endurance that comes from Your strength. I trust You. My mind trusts in You. My will trusts in You. My soul trusts in You. From the depths of my being, I trust You. Amen.

...
LORD,
I trust You FOR all things.
I trust You WITH all things.
I trust You IN all things.
I trust You THROUGH all things.
I trust You ABOVE all things.

Part 19: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 19: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ. -Philippians 3:8 NIV

Walking in Rest!
Rest comes through yielding. When you release something to God you place "it" in His hands, when you yield to God you place "yourself" in His hands. When you release something to God you are giving Him your will; when you yield to Him you are giving Him your heart. A yielded heart lives for Him and counts Him as the greatest one to know...the highest goal to seek...the richest treasure to possess.  When the heart has the right motives, when it seeks to gain Christ instead of personal reward, when it seeks His approval instead of the recognition of others, it can be at rest.
