Part 9: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 9: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...

He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. Colossians 1:13 CSB

Walking in Rest!
Changing from turmoil to peace, from anxiety to trust, from worry to assurance, from striving to rest, comes by changing kingdoms. God moves you from a kingdom of darkness to a kingdom of light...from a kingdom of selfishness to a kingdom of love...from a kingdom of deception to a kingdom of truth. It is a kingdom where the soul finds mercy and the heart finds grace. In His kingdom you are led, not driven; guided, not pushed; healed, not tormented; fulfilled, not frustrated; freed, not bound; edified, not degraded; encouraged, not provoked; released, not hindered.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Provision

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Provision
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

I thank you, God. You are the God of provision; all that I have comes from You; all that I have belongs to You. You provide for me in Your faithfulness—You watch over me with faithful eyes, never missing a thing; You watch over me with faithful hands, never forgetting a detail; You watch over me with faithful words, never ignoring a promise; You watch over me with faithful love, never allowing anything to separate me from You.

Today, I ask You to bless all the work that I do as unto You and prosper the work of my hands. I ask for health of body, clarity of thought, and steadiness of will. I ask for guidance in decisions, favor in relationships, and wisdom in each decision.

I thank You for being the provider of every physical need, practical need, personal need, and most of all, every spiritual need I have. May Your strength be my strength, may Your joy be my joy, may Your purpose be my purpose. God of all, provide for all—all grace, all mercy, all peace.

God of all, be my path through the waters, my shade from the sun, my shelter from the storm, my refreshment from the toil, and my deliverer from the pestilence.

I trust in Your provision for all that is needed in body, soul, and spirit to serve you with all my heart this day. Be the fruit of my labor and my exceeding great reward.

Fret-Free Friday: Safe Pastures

Fret-Free Friday: Safe Pastures
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

We all need sanctified imaginations. It's easy for us to fret and let our imaginations run wild. In reality, most things don't happen the way we imagined them. The Bible doesn't tell us to live by our imaginations. Our imaginations can be a fast track to worry. Worry says, "What happens to me seems out of my control." Faith says, "My life is in God's hands, and He is in control."

If our imagination runs free, it will soon run wild. Without being under the control of the Holy Spirit, our imagination can easily mislead us. Unchecked imagination can quickly take us down the road of anxiety and expose us to a wide variety of fears. We need to yield control of our imagination to the Holy Spirit. He will keep our imagination feeding in the safe pastures depicted in Psalm 23. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will lead our minds to still waters and quiet resting places.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want (Psalm 23:1).

Part 8: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 8: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV

Walking in Rest!
The abundant life is knowing the best that God has to give. It is higher than your highest dreams...deeper than your deepest desires...greater than your greatest hopes. You can be content because you know your life in Him means you are not missing out on something better. Your heart can rest because when you have found Him to be your life, your search for meaning is over...when you have heard His call, your need for purpose has ended...when you have followed His way, your longing for direction has been fulfilled.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Intimacy

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Intimacy
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve Him with your whole heart and a willing mind. 1 Chronicles 28:9 NKJV

Lord, I want to know You more, not just with my head, but intimately, in the depths of my spirit. I desire to live in You, abide in You, be fruitful in You, and have the fullness of Your joy as my portion. I have tasted of Your delights and know that You are good, help me now to feast with You at Your table. Help me draw near, to drink of Your Spirit, to delight in Your will, to walk in Your steps, to be in agreement with Your will, to take Your yoke fully upon me, and to learn of You.

I ask You to take me closer to Your heart—I want to know more deeply what it means to love You; I want to know more fully what it means to experience the pleasure Your company; I want to know more completely what it means to serve You as a faithful servant.

Lord, through my vision, help to see more clearly the things that You see through Your eyes; through my thoughts, help me to understand the things that You know in Your wisdom; through my tongue, help me to speak the words that are upon Your lips. By Your grace, I want to know the power of Your cross, the fellowship of Your suffering, the triumphs of Your victory, and the glory of a life that is seated with You at the Father’s right hand.

I ask You to make me more aware of the things that You celebrate and bring You pleasure. I want to do those things that cause You to say “I am pleased”; I want to follow the path that causes Your face to shine upon me; I want to do the work that has Your approval; I want to make the choices that will result in hearing Your “Well done.”

Fret-Free Friday: Unlimited Possibilities

Fret-Free Friday: Unlimited Possibilities
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

What has the Lord asked of you? Is it time for you to step out? To be still? To let go? When you know the next step God wants you to take, you must take it in the full confidence of faith. Never put limits on yourself as to how much you will obey. Never put limits on God regarding how much He can do.

Anna J. Lindgren said, "He who depends wholly and unconditionally on God becomes an agent for unlimited possibilities." What is possible for you today as one who believes in the Lord? Jesus said, "All things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23). Place and keep your complete and unconditional trust in the Lord, so you can joyfully walk with Him along the path of unlimited possibilities.

Part 7: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength..." Isaiah 30:15 NIV

Walking in Rest!
Rest is quiet trust. Quietness is freedom from murmuring or complaint. Quietness willingly yields to God's authority... surrenders to the Lordship of Jesus Christ...submits to the control of the Holy Spirit. Quietness is a state of peace at heart and personal well-being. It does the will of God with an attitude of praise...a disposition of gratitude...a makeup of joy.  It is the assurance that you are doing what God wants, in God's way, at God's time, for God's glory.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Full-Surrender

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Full-Surrender
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Lord, I surrender all! I surrender all I am and all I hope to be. I release the fight, the conflict, and all that is within me that resists the good, pleasing and perfect will that You desire for me. I ask that You take my life and bury it deep within the fertile soil of Your love—hiding me away in the hidden place, unseen and unknown by the eyes of the world, under the shadow of the Almighty, under the covering of Your wings.

I ask that this day, You will settle it in my heart forever, that I have given You my all and You have received my surrender. Lord, “Take my heart and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.” Thank You for the full assurance that my life is in Your hands, that my circumstances are under Your control, that my goals are for Your glory, and that my future is in Your keeping.

May the deepest part of my heart discover the deepest part of Yours—moving me away from a self-centered life to a life of love that knows no limits, away from hands that grasp to hands that release and give, away from what will benefit me to what will please You, away from clamor and striving to the peace of Your Kingdom, away from the glitter of lesser lights to the light of Your glory.

Thank You, that I am Yours and You are mine! Thank You for the joy of it, the lightness of it, the freedom of it, the beauty of it, the peace of it, the rightness of it, the communion of it, the wonder of it all.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 17
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope. Hold me up, and I shall be safe, and I shall observe Your statutes continually (Psalm 119:116-117).

You can count on God.
His words are truth; He cannot lie.
His character is flawless;
He does what He says He will do.
He never fails. He never errs.

The LORD Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

Part 6: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 6: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace. -1 Corinthians 15:10 NLT

Walking in Rest!
God wants you to rest not "from" the things He has for you but "in" the things He has for you. His rest reigns in the innermost part of your being. It is deeper than temperament, personality or emotions...it is not affected by job description, education or environment...it flows independent of possessions, comforts or conveniences.  Rest comes from grace...from the presence of the Lord...from the comfort of the Holy Spirit...from the yoke of Jesus Christ.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Believing

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Believing
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Lord, I thank You that believers are receivers and that You are the giver of every good and perfect gift. I thank You that through believing I receive Jesus, salvation, peace, joy, answered prayer, and the power to live a life that pleases You.

Lord, make me a believer who continues to believe, a follower who continues to follow, and a servant who continues to serve. May my belief and trust in You never become just a thing of the past. May I never look back or refer to my walk of faith as the “Good old days.” Keep me ever growing, ever moving on in You, ever pressing into Your heart…move me from faith to faith and glory to glory.

May I be a believer who believes Your word and trusts it; a believer who sees your path and follows it; a believer who knows Your strength and counts upon it; a believer who hears Your voice and follows it; a believer who leans upon You and never pulls away.

Lord, when I obey You, may it be with the belief that Your ways are best; when I worship You, may it be with the belief that You alone are wholly worthy; when I obey You may it be with the belief that You will never fail. Help me, Father, not to partially believe, but to fully believe; not to occasionally believe, but to consistently believe; not to reluctantly believe, but to enthusiastically believe.

My prayer is that what I confess with my mouth will be in agreement with what I believe in my heart. I ask that my life will be a daily witness to the world that I am a believer in your Son, Jesus Christ.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 16

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 16
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The only reason to fear or worry is IF the Lord had said...

1. Lay up treasures on earth, for there are no treasures in heaven.
2. Be anxious about life, for God doesn't know anything about you.
3. The most important thing in life is what you possess, so get more.
4. Your Father in heaven doesn't care for you; you are on your own.
5. Seek what the world seeks; that is where true values are.
6. Be anxious about tomorrow; it's good to have things piled up.
7. God doesn't look after the practical details of life; save yourself.

Since He didn't say these things, continue to walk in peace.

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:5-6 AMP, brackets in original).

Part 5: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 5: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 AMP

Walking in Rest!
Spiritual rest is the absence of self-generated action. Spiritual rest lets God's will direct your motives and His power direct your actions. Spiritual rest frees you from the burden of pleasing others to doing all to please Him. Spiritual rest moves you from perplexity to divine purpose...from over-loading to the Spirit's prompting...from frustration to every good and perfect work. Spiritual rest looks to God for guidance...hears from God for approval...waits on God for timing...leans on God for sufficiency...depends on God for results.
