My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Communication

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Communication
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Father, guide my thoughts before they become my words. Place a guard over my mouth and a watchman over the door of my lips.

When I open my mouth, I ask You to fill it with right words, good words, true words, loving words—words that will point the way to Your heart. May my words be acceptable and pleasing to You as You hear their sound and know the intent behind them.

Use my words this day to heal and not harm, to restore and not separate, to extend mercy and not judgment, to build up and not pull down, to comfort and not injure, to bring sunlight and not shadows, to encourage and not quench, to mend and not wound.

May my words herald good news, be seasoned with salt, and bring grace to the hearer.

If I am to speak correction, may it be with compassion; if I am to exhort, may it be with humility; If I am to instruct, may it be with brokenness; if I am to guide, may it be with wisdom; if I am to inform, may it be with clarity; if I am to counsel, may it be according to Your word.

Guard my tongue from murmuring and my voice from complaint. In all things, may my mouth be filled with words of gratitude, expressions of praise, and proclamations of Your faithfulness.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 15

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 15
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

For we know in part and we prophesy in part...For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known (1 Corinthians 13:9, 12).

Be patient. We don't need to know everything right now. In this life we won't be able to resolve every question, solve every problem, or understand every situation. In time, everything will be made clear. Things won't always be the way they are right now. We don't need to fret over God's timetable. We will inherit all the promises of God through faith and patience. God knows how and when to bring about change. Trust His timing.

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. Bu the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29-31).

If you ever see a lily toiling or a bird storing up food in a barn, you will know the time to worry has arrived. -Based on Matthew 6:26-28

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!: Part 4

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!: Part 4
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
"Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did." I John 2:6 NIV

Walking in Rest!
Jesus was very busy. Each day was packed with people, demands and ministry. He traveled; He taught; He preached. Through and in it all He never panicked, was never frustrated and never had a nervous breakdown. He never cried out in despair, "I can't cope!"

It is His will for you to walk even as He walked. He moved through each day in control...functioned in peace...abode in rest. He knew there was always enough time in each day to do the Father's will.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Seeking

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Seeking
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Father,
In the midst of great spiritual darkness we seek Your light;
In the midst of abounding sin we seek Your righteousness;
In the midst of conflicting voices we seek Your truth;
In the midst of confusion and growing perplexity we seek Your wisdom;
In the midst of self-centeredness and personal gain we seek Your glory;
In the midst of insecurity and uncertainty we seek Your hope;
In the midst of difficulty and increasing needs we seek Your provision;
In the midst of illnesses and weakness we seek Your wholeness;
In the midst of worries and deepening restlessness we seek Your peace.
In the midst of selfishness and injustice we seek Your kingdom.
In the midst of ruined lives and broken spirits we seek Your healing;
In the midst of hurting hearts we seek Your love.
Thank You, Father, for your assurance that those who seek You will also find You.

Those who seek Me diligently will find Me. Isaiah 45:19 NKJV

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 14

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 14
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

There is a grace God gives when it's His time for us to do His will. There is a grace that He gives us when we are waiting on His will to be done. His grace includes the fruit of patience and the peace of contentment. Patience says, "I can wait for His timing." Contentment says, "I am at peace with the way things are at the moment." Patience allows us to wait without striving; contentment allows us to wait without complaint.

Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find, and for the one who knocks, the door will be opened. If your child asks you for break, would any of you give him a stone? Or if your child asks for a fish, would you give him a snake? Even though you're evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him? (Matthew 7:7-11 GW).

Though everyone fails you, God remains faithful (2 Timothy 2:13).
Though everyone speaks lies, God remains true (Romans 3:3-4 GW).
Though all things lose their luster, God remains glorious (2 Corinthians 3:8-11).
Though all would forsake you, God remains with you (Haggai 2:4-5).
Though the world grows exceedingly troubled, God remains in control (John 16:33).

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!: Part 3

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!: Part 3
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
"Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom." Psalm 51:6

Walking in Rest!
Building truth within helps establish rest in the heart. Lies are enemies that seek to bring confusion, distress, defeat and unrest. Truth frees; lies bind...truth builds up; lies tear down...truth nourishes; lies poison...truth strengthens; lies weaken...truth quickens; lies kill...truth heals; lies infect...truth restores; lies rob...truth gladdens; lies depress...truth calms; lies trouble...truth saves; lies condemn...truth lightens; lies darken. Truth renews the mind, quickens the understanding and takes every thought captive.

My Monday Prayer:

My Monday Prayer: Prayer of Trust
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Lord, I trust in You. I believe in You. I hope in You. You are my confidence, my assurance. I lean upon You, for You are my Rock; I depend upon You, for You are my Provider; I delight in You, for You are the joy of my life. My heart rests in You; my faith responds to You, my soul rejoices in You.

You are the true God who cannot lie and will not fail. You are the Lord, the Almighty God, the Creator of all things. You are my Lord, My God, and my Maker.

You are my Keeper, and I am secure; You are my Father, and I am cared for; You are my Counselor and I am guided; You are my shelter and I am safe.

I trust You in life—for the wisdom of Your ways, for the blessings of Your favor, for the sufficiency of Your grace, for the power of Your Spirit, and for the endurance that comes from Your strength;

Lord, I trust in You—my mind trusts in You, my will trusts in You, my soul trusts in You—from the depths of my being, I trust in You.

I trust You for all things.
I trust You with all things.
I trust You in all things.
I trust You through all things.
I trust You above all things.

Father, I entrust my future into Your hands, for You who are the Beginning and the End, know the end from the beginning; I entrust my hopes into Your hands, for You never lie; I entrust my labors into Your hands, for you are my exceeding great reward; I entrust my life into Your hands, for You are the one who does all things well.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret-Buster 13

Fret-Free Friday: Fret-Buster 13
-Roy Lessin, Fret-Busters

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).

Father, I have received peace from You and peace with You because of Your Son's sacrifice for me. It's amazing to know that all is well with my soul, that all has been made right in my relationship with You, that I have been accepted in the beloved and adopted into Your family.

You are the God of peace, the provider of peace, and the One who maintains my peace. Your peace is my safe place, my sheltered place, my abiding place.

Your peace is my pathway. May ever step I take be guided by Your peace; may every decision I make be governed by Your peace; may ever act of service I do be guarded by Your peace. Lord, let Your peace mark my footsteps, empower my words, and shield my heart.

Peace is in Your voice, peace is in Your heart, peace is in Your kingdom, peace is in Your truth, peace is in Your purposes. Thank You for keeping me in Your perfect peace.

Part 2: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Part 2: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." -John 8:32

Walking in Rest!
Truth causes your heart to rest from anxiety, worry and fear. Truth calms your spirit in troubled times and brings your soul to quiet waters in the midst of difficult times. Truth is the anchor that keeps you steady and allows you to boldly sing, "It is well with my soul." Truth lets you stand bravely...resist strongly...fight confidently...conquer triumphantly. Truth is the banner of your praise and the confession of your faith affirming that God has everything under control.

My Monday Prayer: Prayer of Knowing Jesus

My Monday Prayer: Prayer of Knowing Jesus
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus, I want to see You, for no other face can show me the Father, and no other light can reveal His image. I want to know what it fully means to have the eyes of my heart opened to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to be in awe of Your glory. Reveal to me the grace upon Your countenance, the joy within Your spirit, and the love that moves Your heart toward mine.

Lord, I seek to move closer, to see clearer, and to be drawn nearer to You–where there are gaps in my understanding of who You are, close them; where there are blanks, fill them in; where there is a lack of clarity, bring things into sharper focus.

Jesus, I know that in You there is no lack, for I am complete in You; there is no emptiness, for I am made full in You; there is no fragmentation, for I am made whole in You. Thank You for being the image of God that I can see, the provision of God I can receive, and the light of God that I can follow.

May You find in me a faith that is growing, a trust that is building, and a love that is deepening day by day. Jesus, I wait upon You, come to me; I listen for You, speak to me; I look to You, show me; I lean on You, keep me. I thank You for being the hope of my heart, the joy of my life, and the reason why I live.

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 12

Fret-Free Friday: Fret Buster 12
Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

An aged, weary woman, carrying a heavy basket, got aboard a train, and when seated she did not let go of her heavy basket. The kind voice of a man sitting next to her spoke these words, "Lay down your burden, madam, the train will carry both it and you." -J.H. Jowett, The Silver Lining

In this illustration, the aged woman's basket and its contents were not bad things. the basket may have contained the food items needed to feed her family that day. It was the weight of the basket that made the woman weary.

Is there something in your life that has become a burden? It may be a good thing, and the right thing for you to do, but there may be a weight associated with it that is making you weary. The Lord may not want you to cast away the good thing, but He does want you to cast the care of it on Him. He wants you to let Him carry it.

Perhaps the weight is associated with your job. The Lord may want you to keep the job but not carry the weight of "striving in your work to get ahead."

Perhaps the weight is associated with a ministry. The Lord may want you to continue in that ministry but not carry the weight of "trying to please people."

Perhaps the weight is associated with a difficult situation. The Lord may want you to press through the difficulty but not carry the weight of "doing it in your own strength."

The Lord desires to release you from every burden that would weigh you down, make your heart heavy, or rob you of the strength you need to do His will. He will sustain you. He is able to carry both you and the weight of your burden!

Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22).

Part 1: Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!

Knowing His Best...Walking in Rest!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Knowing His Best...
"...For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."  -2 Timothy 1:12

Walking in Rest!

Truth brings rest to your soul. In order to rest you need to be assured that your trust is in someone and something that is certain and unchangeable. Trust counts on God! He is pure; there are no mixed motives in His heart...He is the same; there is no variance in His nature...He is faithful; there is no unreliability in His character. He will never fail you, never let you down or cause you to be ashamed. As you give yourself to Him, you can live in the confidence of knowing that your life couldn't be in better hands.

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Patience

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Patience
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to me. Thank You that the Holy Spirit is the source and the river of Your life being lived in me. Thank You that I can fully and confidently trust in the work of the Holy Spirit in my life, for the Holy Spirit’s nature is exactly the same as Yours.

Holy Spirit, I yield to Your control. According to the Word of God that You have inspired, I acknowledge that the impatient demands of my flesh have been crucified with Christ and shall not have dominion over me. I take the control of my life out of my own hands and place it into Yours.

Spirit of God, I receive, by faith, the fruit of Your patience. I turn away from the attitude that insists things must work out according to my timetable, my plans, and my expectations. Bring me into agreement with the ways You work and Your perfect timing in my life. Produce in me a quiet heart and fill me with the fruit of joyfulness as I learn to wait upon the Lord. Work in me, Your beautiful work of righteousness.
