A Devotional Journey Through the Psalms: Psalm 13
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow
I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in
Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with
me (Psalm 13:5-6).
A quiet heart begins by putting your trust in the
Lord. Doubt the Lord, and your heart will remain restless. The trusting
heart is assured of God’s mercies, rejoices in God’s salvation, and delights in
God’s abundant generosity. In the midst of difficult and trying times these are
three things that will help quiet your heart.
Be Assured of God’s Mercies
God’s mercies are tender mercies. They cover your life as a mother covers her
infant child with pity and compassion. So great, so deep, and so full are His
mercies toward you that they will cover you for a lifetime and be new to you
each morning.
Rejoice in God’s Salvation
Your salvation provides you with an endless river of life,
hope, and victory. So great is your salvation that your cup will always be able
to dip into its fullness and drink of its joys. Even in your most difficult
times, your future is secure in what God has prepared for you.
Delight in God’s Abundant Generosity
The trusting heart will never feel comfortable in the company of
ungratefulness. God has freely given you so much that will never be able to get
your head, your heart, or your hands around it. He has given you His Son, and
in Him are found every spiritual blessing you will ever need.
Insight: You won’t be able to stop counting the riches you
have in Christ until eternity runs out of time.
Restore, Renew
and Refresh in the Psalms
