Restore, Renew and Refresh

Blessed is the one who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper…For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish (Psalm 1:1-3,6).
Seeking God’s approval is not a fear thing, but a love thing. It is one of the highest motivations of love. That’s how Jesus lived. Daily, when Jesus got up to meet the day, He only wanted to do what pleased His Father (John 8:29).
Psalm 1 gives us several insights into what pleases God and brings His blessing to our lives:
- Rejecting the counsel of those who don’t know God’s mind.
- Removing ourselves from relationships with those who don’t desire to do God’s will.
- Refusing to express the attitudes of those who don’t want to know God’s heart.
- Rejoicing in God’s absolute truth and righteous precepts.
- Reflecting upon all that God has revealed in His holy word.
Insight: Living a life that displeases the Lord will not produce a favorable or fruitful outcome.
