Jesus: The Arm of the Lord

-Roy Lessin, Jesus Name Above All Names

The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
-Isaiah 52:10 KJV

The Arm of the Lord is such an awesome name. Through this name God is telling us that His Son is the extension of His might and the expression of His heart.

As a young boy, I was in awe of the size of my grandfather's muscles and the strength of his powerful arms. Many times he would flex his right arm and let me wrap my hands around it. When I did, he would demonstrate his strength by lifting me off the ground. I never failed to be in wonder of it all.

The Arm of the Lord reminds us of His tender care. It is His strong arm that can lift us, hold us, and keep us close to His heart. His arm has the power to anoint the eyes of a blind man and restore His sight; His arm has the tenderness to embrace a little child and draw him to His side. His arm holds the rod and the staff that give us comfort.

His arm also speaks of His mighty work of redemption when He died on the cross. The arm of the Lord is extended, not to forbid you access to His grace, but to our His grace upon you in abundance. It is His arm of salvation that pulls you out of the miry clay and lifts you out of the horrible pit of sin and rebellion. The might of all other arms will fail to save. It is His arm alone that can rescue you.
