Reflections from Psalm 25:10, Part 3

Reflections from Psalm 25:10, Part 3
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth (Psalm 25:10 NKJV).

God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 NKJV)

To believe in God is to believe in absolutes.

God’s nature and attributes are absolute. He cannot deny Himself and be someone less (2 Timothy 2:13).

God is Truth (Jeremiah 10:10), Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6), and The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17). God will never speak or live a lie. He is true Truth. Absolutely!

Because God is absolute Truth, He cannot lie!
Only God’s Truth can form righteous values and shape godly character within us.

Truth has no human origin. Truth is greater than anyone’s personal opinion, viewpoint, or value system. Only Truth can identify what is good and what is evil, what is right and what is wrong, what is true and what is false. Because God has always been and always will be, Truth has always been and always will be. Truth does not go out of style, nor can it be invented or reinvented. Truth is always relevant because it is eternal and not in need of change.

He are some important things God has said about Truth:

Know the Truth- John 8:32
Practice Truth- John 3:21
Speak the Truth- John 8:46
Be guided by Truth- John 16:13
Be sanctified by Truth- John 17:17
Obey the Truth- Romans 2:8
Rejoice in Truth- 1 Corinthians 13:6
Do nothing against Truth- 2 Corinthians 13:8
Love the Truth- 2 Thessalonians 2:10
Believe the Truth- 2 Thessalonians 2:12
Welcome Truth- 2 Timothy 3:8
Listen to Truth- 2 Timothy 4:4
Be established in Truth- 2 Peter 1:12
Walk in Truth- 2 John 1:4

Reflections from Psalm 25:10, Part 2

Reflections from Psalm 25:10, Part 2
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth (Psalm 25:10 NKJV).

Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14 NKJV
For with God nothing will be impossible. Luke 1:37 NKJV
For I am the Lord, I do not change. Malachi 3:6 NKJV

Truth- Is God absolute? Absolutely! Everything about God is absolute. His ways, His work, and His words are absolute. His person, His power, and His promises are absolute.

There is nothing about God that is imperfect, unsure, impossible, incomplete, inconsistent, impure, flawed, damaged, marred, mixed, restricted, inconsistent, untrue, or limited.

God’s kingdom is the only absolute, unshakable foundation upon which you can build your life. Everything else shifts, moves, shakes, disappoints and changes.

Truth establishes and stabilizes your going, and places a foundation beneath your feet. Truth secures your way and enables you to keep your balance. Truth keeps you from falling, and motivates your obedience. Truth presents no empty promises. It never misdirects, misinforms, misleads, or misuses. It cannot be bound, held captive, or rendered powerless. Truth will never get you lost, cause confusion, deceive, turn you around in circles, disappoint or bring you to a dead end.

Truth is your freedom!

Because God is absolutely who He is, He cannot be the opposite of who He is. For example, because God is good it is impossible for Him to be evil. If God had any evil in Him He could not be absolutely good.

We are not absolutely good. We can do good things, but we can also do bad things. Often, people do “good things” in hopes of balancing out the bad things they have done. Jesus said, “There is none good but God.” God the Father is good (Psalm 118:1). God the Son is good (John 10:11). God the Holy Spirit is good (Eph. 5:9)….Absolutely good!

Is God good to you? Absolutely!

My Morning Prayer: Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm

My Morning Prayer: Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm

These past few days we have focused on the 23rd Psalm, verse-by-verse and word-by-word. As we start the New Year, let’s pray Psalm 23 with detail and intention. May we remember the fullness of who He is in our life, in our world, and who He wants to be for us, and to us. He is aware of everything going on and will walk with us through it. He is intentional in the things He allows, and has purpose in it, to bring people closer to Him and to enlarge His kingdom. He is never caught off-guard, never surprised. He has a plan, and we are included in it. He is the Lord of everything in our past, and our future. May we live the coming year bringing Him honor and glory. -Marina

Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

1. The Lord is my shepherd.
What could be sweeter or dearer than to know that no one is nearer to your heart, your soul, or your deepest desires than the Lord. His caring eyes are upon you, His protecting hands are over you, His assuring voice speaks peace to you, His loving heart responds to you. You can come to Him in quietness and confidence, in faith, in hope, in trust, in thanks, in worship, in praise, and in prayer.

2. I shall not be in want.
You will never lack anything that His grace cannot give you, and He will give to you over and over again. Because His supply is abundant you will never be without…because His heart is full you will never be empty… because His resources are endless there will never be a time when He cannot meet your needs. Your life couldn’t be in better hands. As you come to Him in prayer remember how much He desires to bless you.

3. He makes me lie down in green pastures.
The place God daily brings you to is green with life and nourishment…Cool with delight and refreshing…pleasant with freedom and beauty. It is a place of rest to quiet your heart…a place of hope to renew your spirit…a place of joy to delight your soul. You are so blessed to be able to share the Lord’s quiet company. It pleases His heart to hear your heart speak words of praise and thanks to Him.

4. He leads me beside quiet waters.
In your quiet times or busy times God has a quiet place for you to rest. As you gaze upon the waters of the Holy Spirit, you will see the reflection of His face. His waters are present to wash you, delight you, and refresh you.  They will bring you rest from all your fears, worries, cares, and anxieties. In His quiet place there is no weight upon you, no confusion around you, and no clouds over you. It is the place where you can peacefully open your heart to Him.

5. He restores my soul.
It is delightful to come before the Lord in quietness, in adoration, and in prayer. As you kneel at His feet and gaze upon His face, renewal gently comes. In your weariness you will be refreshed, in your weakness your strength will be renewed, in your heaviness your heart will sing a new song. His wings will be your covering, His faithfulness will be your shield, His loving kindness will be your sweet reward. Beautiful are His ways with you.

6. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
As you walk the paths of prayer you will be guided into everything that is true and right…into all that is best for you and others…into all that will take you to the highest expressions of His love. He will lead you by His way, by His words, and by His will. He will guide you down the paths that lead you straight to His heart. Each prayer He answers will be for your good and for His glory.

7. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
The greatest thing your heart can experience when you are alone with God is His presence. He is greater than any of His gifts. What He is to you is greater than anything He can do for you. His lovingkindness is better than life…in His presence is fullness of joy…at His right hand are pleasures forevermore. When God gives Himself to you there is nothing higher that He can give.

8. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Comfort in prayer comes by knowing that the One you look to is always looking out for you. He is not only with you, but He is actively doing everything that is necessary to keep you safe within His care. You can be assured that above you are His tender mercies…around you is His unfailing love…and underneath you are His everlasting arms.

9. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Even though you may have a lot of things that come against you, you have so much more going for you. While your enemies try to rob you of your joy, God spreads a lavish table before filled with spiritual blessings of goodness, kindness, and love. As you come to Him in prayer you find a table your soul can delight in…your faith can feast upon…and your heart can rejoice in.

10. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
When you come to God in times of personal dryness, when you are in need of help or healing, or when you are in a desert place, you will find His loving hand pouring out the oil of His Spirit upon you—comforting, refreshing, and filling you to overflowing. His oil heals and soothes, calms and relieves, and causes your face to shine with the glow of His presence.

11. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.
How glorious and wonderful are the things that follow you into prayer—kindness, beauty, goodness, mercy, grace, favor, blessings, faithfulness and lovingkindness. In His great generosity He has given to you freely, bountifully, cheerfully. He has given you the finest, the highest, the deepest, and the fullest measure of His love. All that He has given He will continue to give to you all the days of your life.

12. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Prayer is for time, not for eternity. Now you are a pilgrim with needs to be met and people to minister to along the way. One day you will be in your Father’s house, the need for asking will have passed away and only praise will remain. In Jesus, your future is secure and your destiny certain. Today is the time to bring before Him all those who, like you, are in need of hope and encouragement on their journey home.

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23:1-6).

He Leads You in Footsteps of Grace

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me… Psalm 23:1–2 KJV
He: Not governments. Not politicians. Not political parties. Not programs. Not schemes and the plans of men. He alone! Mighty God, ruler of the land and sea. Giver and sustainer of my life—my glory and the lifter of my head.

leadeth me: Not pushing. Not driving. Not far removed, but ever-present, ever-near. Out front. Taking the first steps, going before, making the pathway passable, possible, doable with footsteps of grace.

Inside the House

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. Psalm 36:7-8 NKJV

A hiker is on a walk in the mountains. It’s a nice day in late fall when he begins his hike. Unexpectedly, the weather changes and the temperature drops. Storm clouds gather. The hiker begins to look for shelter. Ahead of him, a few hundred yards off the main trail, he notices a log house.

When he arrives at the house he knocks on the door. There is no answer. As he wonders what to do, the storm begins to unleash its furry. Temperatures plunge, the wind increases and snow begins to fall. The house is the hiker’s only chance to escape the storm. He walks around the house and looks through a few windows. To his delight, he sees food supplies on the shelves, bottled water on the kitchen table, blankets on a chair, warm clothing hanging from hooks on the wall, and a tall pile of firewood next to the fireplace.

Everything the hiker needs is in the house: food, drink, dry clothing, warmth, comfort, shelter. But he can’t get in. He has no key, and the windows and doors are locked. Frustrated, he decides to take another look through a nearby window. To his surprise, he sees the figure of a man sleeping in an easy chair in the corner of the living room. The hiker realizes that the things he needs can be available to him if he can awaken the man and get him to open the door and invite him in.

The hiker pounds loudly at the door and looks through the window again. He sees the man beginning to stir and get to his feet. The hiker knocks again, excited that help is on the way.

The story of the hiker is not an illustration of what our relationship with God looks like as believers in Jesus Christ. We are not trying to gain entrance into God’s house, and we do not need to be “pounding on the door of His promises” hoping to get His attention so we can receive what we need and find shelter from the storm.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are already in the house. You can’t entreat your way in through prayer, you can’t buy your way in through giving, you can’t earn your way in through serving. God welcomed you and brought you into His house through grace, the day you gave your heart to Him. You are in Christ, not separated from Him; you are a friend, not a stranger; you are an heir, not an alien; you are a child, not an orphan; you are in the household of faith, not an outsider.

As someone who is in God’s house, you have complete access to all God has provided for you through His Son—every spiritual blessing is yours; you are complete in Him; He is your life; He is in you and you are in Him; He is your “yes” to every promise.

When you bring your needs to God in prayer, ask, not as an outsider looking in, but as a child who is living in his Father’s house. Ask in full assurance of faith. And as you ask, hear Him say, “You will be satisfied with the fullness of My house. Come drink at the stream of My pleasures.”

In His Hands

For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing.
Psalm 92:4 AMP

The best decision you ever made was to place your life into the hands of the One who made you—hands that worked with SKILL; hands that guided with WISDOM; hands that shaped with PURPOSE; hands that formed with LOVE.

God’s hands are more capable than a great surgeon;
More compassionate than a caring nurse;
More precise than a fine diamond cutter;
More creative than a master craftsman;
More powerful than a mighty warrior;
More dependable than a honest man’s handshake;
More reassuring than a mother’s embrace.

Your life is in His hands!

Waiting for God’s Time, Part 1

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him….” Psalm 37:7 NKJV
One of the ancient meanings of the word “wait” is “to bind together by twisting.” Binding cords together by hand takes time. It is a process with a purpose that takes patience.

God, like a master weaver, does a creative work within us during the waiting times in our lives. It is during our waiting times that God binds our lives with His, as a rope-maker binds together threads of twine. When this happens we experience the stretching of our faith and the testing of our patience.
As He works, He strengthens us and pulls us closer to His heart. He does this because He desires intimacy with us. Before He gives us what we are waiting for, He wants to give us more of Himself. In the waiting times we are strengthened with His strength, and the fiber of His character is worked within us.

This is the first of a 5 Part series called Waiting for God's Time.

Clothed With Joy

When Jesus worked, He worked as no man had ever worked. When He found the sick He showed them the way to healing, when He found the impure He showed them the way to cleansing, when He found the broken He showed them the way to wholeness, when He found the heavy of heart He led them to the fountains of joy, when He found those in darkness He led them to His glorious light, when He found the thirsty He led them to the rivers of living water.

When Jesus spoke, He spoke as no man had ever spoken. He spoke with authority. His words went deeper than the mind—His words reached deep into a person’s inner-most being—piercing the heart, touching the conscience, stirring the spirit, restoring the soul. What He said could be trusted, and every heart that trusted what He said was changed forever.

Jesus still works and He is still speaking. What is He working in your life? What is He saying to your heart? Is there a new step of faith to take? Is there a new ministry He is leading you to do? Is there a change He wants to make within you? Is He asking you to trust Him at a deeper level? Is He saying to be still and wait? Let Him work, let Him speak, let Him have His way with you and your obedience will be clothed with joy.

I take joy in doing your will, my God. Psalm 40:8 NLT
