My Morning Prayer: Truths about Prayer

My Morning Prayer: Truths about Prayer
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

Truths about Prayer
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us (1 John 5:14 NKJV).

God’s understanding of your need is much greater than your ability to express it.

Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him! (Matthew 6:8 NLT).

Cares that come are not to be carried but released into God’s hands.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV).

The power in prayer is not found in the eloquence of the one who prays but in the power of God who answers.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen (Matthew 6:13 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Thank you, Lord God, for the many ways you provide for me every day. Thank you for including your will in my needs, and for covering me with your wings. Thank you for knowing what I need before I do. Thank you for caring for me and receiving my cares as I turn them over to you. Thank you for protecting me from temptation and delivering me from the evil one. Thank you for reminding me that my home is not here on earth, but in your kingdom, where your power and glory reign. Lord, I want to be with you for eternity! Maranatha! Amen!

Timely Tidbits of Truth 61, Refresh

Timely Tidbits of Truth 61, Refresh
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

This word gives us great delight. It brings to mind a cool drink on a hot day or the protective shade of an oak from the midday sun. Sin brings us into the dry, barren place, but refreshing comes when we turn back to the Lord and experience the delightfulness and utter joy of His presence.

The Lord’s refreshing also comes to us in our labor and in our service—bringing us rest, lifting our burden, refocusing our vision, invigorating our zeal, clarifying our purpose, quickening our step, and gladdening our hearts as we walk with Him.

Therefore repent and turn back, that your sins may be wiped out so that season of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19 HCSB).

MAY THE Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you up on high [and defend you]; Send you help from the sanctuary and support, refresh, and strengthen you (Psalm 20:1-2 AMP).

In Kingdom Work and Ministry...

In Kingdom Work and Ministry...
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

In kingdom work and ministry you can:
Opt out and say, “No thank you. It’s not for me. I have better things to do.”
Burn out and say, “I’m exhausted and have nothing left to give.”
Rust out and say, “Ho hum. I tried it and find it boring. Perhaps I’ll do more another day.”
Bail out and say, “I over promised. It’s not what I thought it would be.”

Or you can take Jesus’ yoke upon you and say:
“I’m all in.”
“I’m not alone.”
“I do what He’s doing, at His pace.”
“Nothing is in vain, everything matters.”
“I don’t strive. I am at rest. I am content.”
“I am joined to an easy yoke and a light burden.”
“My joy is found in pleasing Him”

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer, Part 3

My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer, Part 3
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Imagine a hiker is on a walk in the mountains. It’s a nice day in late fall when he begins his hike. Unexpectedly, the weather changes and the temperature drops. Storm clouds gather. The hiker begins to look for shelter. Ahead of him, a few hundred yards off the main trial, he notices a log house.

When he arrives at the house he knocks on the door. There is no answer. As he wonders what to do, the storm begins to unleash its furry. Temperatures plunge, the wind increases and snow begins to fall. The house is the hiker’s only chance to escape the storm. He walks around the house and looks through a few windows. To his delight, he sees food supplies on the shelves, bottled water on the kitchen table, blankets on a chair, warm clothing hanging from hooks on the wall, and a tall pile of firewood next to the fireplace.

Everything the hiker needs is in the house: food, drink, dry clothing, warmth, comfort, shelter. But he can’t get in. He has no key, and the windows and doors are locked. Frustrated, he decides to take another look through a different window. To his surprise, he sees the figure of a man sleeping in an easy chair in the corner of the living room. The hiker realizes that the things he needs can be available to him if he can awaken the man and get him to open the door and invite him in.

The hiker pounds loudly at the door and looks through the window again. He sees the man beginning to stir and get to his feet. The hiker knocks again, excited that help is on the way.

The story of the hiker is not an illustration of what our relationship with God looks like as believers in Jesus Christ. In fact, it is the opposite. We are not trying to gain entrance into God’s house, and we do not need to be “pounding on the door of His promises” hoping to get His attention so we can receive what we need and find shelter from the storms of life.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are already in the house. You can’t entreat your way in through prayer, you can’t buy your way in through giving, and you can’t earn your way in through serving. God welcomed you and brought you into His place of refuge through grace the day you gave your heart to Him. You are in Christ, not separated from Him; you are a friend, not a stranger; you are an heir, not an alien; you are a child, not an orphan, you are in the household of faith, not an outsider.

As someone who is in God’s family, you have complete access to all God has provided for you through His Son—every spiritual blessing is yours; you are complete in Him; He is your life; He is in you and you are in Him; He is your “yes” to every promise.

When you bring your needs to God in prayer, ask, not as an outsider looking in, but as a child who is living in his Father’s house. Ask in full assurance of faith. And as you ask, hear Him say, “You will be satisfied with the fullness of My house. Come drink at the stream of My pleasures...” (Psalm 36:8).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Father, God, thank you for welcoming me into your presence, inviting me to abide in your house, sitting with me and comforting me. Thank you for meeting and providing all that I need, even more than I could ask or think, even before I ask. Thank you for being my strong-tower, my rock and fortress, the only place I can trust! May my heart be changed to be more like yours as I spend time with you, reading your Word, and listening to your heart beat as I cling to you. When you move me beyond these walls, help me to draw strength from being with you to be your hands and feet in this hurting world. I want to love others the way you love them...the way you love me. In Jesus's name, amen.

Timely Tidbits of Truth 60

Timely Tidbits of Truth 60
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus is risen…
And He took you along with Him!

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand (Colossians 3:1 NLT).
