Prayer of Healing

Prayer of Healing
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Father, You are the Almighty One! Nothing is impossible or too hard for You.

You are Healer God (Jehovah-Rapha). That is Your name. You make bitter things sweet, You revive the old and make things new, You take the things that were lost and restore them. You come with healing in Your wings. You send forth Your word and we are made whole.
You speak and wonders happen; You work and miracles take place; You touch with Your hand and new things begin—You turn ashes into beauty and give the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. You are the One who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases.

You are the One who sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, and anointed Him with the power of the Holy Spirit. He went about doing good, healing all who came to Him, and delivered all who were oppressed by the devil because You were with Him. It is by His stripes we are healed.

I receive from You all that You are and all Your Son has provided for me through His death and resurrection. Come now with healing in Your wings.
...
Jesus keep me near the cross,
there a precious fountain.
Free to all a healing stream
Flows from Calvary’s mountain.
-Fanny Crosby

Scriptures to Encourage Us in Prayer

Scriptures to Encourage Us in Prayer
-Roy Lessin

Hello Friends! The next few weeks we will be presenting scriptures that Roy has compiled to encourage us in prayer. We pray that it enables you to have a fruitful prayer life, and that you see the benefits of praying more! -Marina

An Invitation to Pray

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:19-22 NIV).

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men (1 Timothy 2:1 KJV).

Answered Prayer

To the Lord I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy hill (Psalm 3:4 NIV).

Answer me when I call to You, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer (Psalm 4:1 NIV).

You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips (Psalm 21:2 NIV).

I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles (Psalm 34:4-6 NIV).

I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry (Psalm 40:1 NIV).

God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me! (Psalm 66:19-20 NIV).

Requests

Requests
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Father—
In our hunger, feed us;
In our growing, weed us;
In our seeking, lead us;
In our yielding, knead us;
In our praying, heed us.
In our serving, bend us;
In our fight, defend us;
In our hurting, mend us;
In our hardness, rend us;
In our going, send us.

Call to me, and I will answer you (Jeremiah 33:3)…

My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer, 4

My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer, 4
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promises
When I was a little boy I wasn’t encouraged to pray, I was encouraged to make wishes. One evening, after dinner, someone handed me a bone.
“Here, grab one end of this bone.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a wish bone.”
“What’s that?”
“Well, first you make a wish. Then you pull on your end of the bone while I pull on the other end. If you get the big end when the bone breaks then your wish will come true.”

The idea of wishing for things to happen became reinforced when I found out I could make a wish before I blew out my birthday candles (I also learned that if I told someone what my wish was, it wouldn’t come true.) When I started going to the movies I heard Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, both tell me through a song, that I could wish upon a star and my dreams would come true.

The idea of children wishing for their dreams to come true may sound silly, but some carry this idea with them into adulthood and can confuse it with prayer. Prayer is not another way to have “all our dreams come true.” Prayer is about speaking to the living God, Our Heavenly Father, bringing our requests to Him, and believing that He hears and answers us in agreement with His will and for His glory.

Here are three important things that can move us away from fantasy, and bring us into the reality of answered prayer…

Know the promises-God has spoken promises to us. Those promises are recorded in Scripture so we can know what is in His heart toward us. His promises will keep us from praying amiss. His promises are not fleeting words of emotion, they are words of truth. Without the truth of His promises we could be overcome with superstition, timidity, and anxiety. It is because of His promises that we can live a life of freedom, confidence, and contentment.

Pray the promises-In addition to the importance of knowing God’s promises is the importance of praying His promises. Bible translations are like car models, each one is a little different in style, but they all have this in common—you must insert the key (faith) and put your foot on the gas (obedience) in order to get somewhere. A car doesn’t help you if you keep it in the garage and keep the key in your pocket. Prayer is like turning the key and putting the promises into motion (Luke 11:9-13).

Trust the heart of the Promise Giver-We will not have the confidence we need to pray unless we trust in the character of the One who has spoken the promises. Often, people who make promises to us also tell us to trust them. They may be sincere in their request, but even the best intentions are flawed by human weakness, forgetfulness, and limited resources.  There are no flaws in God’s character and no empty words in His promises. We can be thankful, that as we ask for our daily bread, we do not call upon a God with human weaknesses or limitations, but upon the One who loves us with a perfect love and has promised to supply all our needs from His glorious riches which have been given to us in Jesus Christ.

The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over (Psalm 12:6 AMP).

God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]: I will rejoice, I will divide and portion out [the land] Shechem and the Valley of Succoth [west to east] (Psalm 60:6 AMP).

[Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment]. [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him (Psalm 92:14-15 AMP).

In the day when I called, You answered me; and You strengthened me with strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) in my inner self. All the kings of the land shall give You credit and praise You, O Lord, for they have heard of the promises of Your mouth [which were fulfilled] (Psalm 138:3-4 AMP).

…Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; (Romans 9:4 NKJV).

Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty." Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 6:17-18, 7:1 NKJV).

That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

My Sweetest Lord Jesus, thank you that you are a God who keeps your promises to us, and not prone to human flaws. As I come to you this morning, help my words be genuine needs and not wishes, full of trust and vulnerability. Help me to be needy in my requests and not full of fluff or pride. Continue to teach me the value of communicating with you, sitting with you, holding you near. Above all else, I want your will for my life. In Jesus's name I humbly pray...amen.

My Morning Prayer: Prayer

My Morning Prayer: Prayer
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus lived prayer and taught prayer. He prayed at different times and for various amounts of time. He prayed in secret and He prayed in public. He prayed about personal matters and matters concerning others. He prayed for His friends and for His enemies. Through prayer He sought the Father’s will and His glory, stood against Satan, forgave His enemies, and released the Holy Spirit’s ministry. Through prayer He gave thanks, blessed, interceded, praised, petitioned, made supplication, and travailed. He prayed as a man dependent upon His Father, seeking to please Him and glorify Him in all things. Through prayer He drew near to His Father so that He could draw us nearer to His heart…He knelt in humility so that He could raise us up to new heights…He poured out His soul so that He could comfort us in every situation. As our High Priest He prayed for our unity, our sanctification, our joy, our love, our keeping, our ministry, and our destiny.

He taught us to pray in simplicity and in sincerity…in confidence and in clarity…in expectation and in faith. He taught us to pray in all things and at all times. He taught us to pray with a clean heart, with a single mindedness, with a forgiving spirit, and with a grateful heart. When His disciples came to Him asking for instruction in prayer, Jesus gave them a pattern. He told them that prayer starts from a relationship with the Father, and that the beginning and end of prayer is for His glory. It is the Father’s will we seek in prayer, it is His heart we touch in prayer, it is His hand we move through prayer, it is His goodness we receive through prayer, and it is His ways we learn through prayer.  Through prayer we can see His Kingdom move in the earth, and experience His Kingdom moving in our lives—in righteousness, peace, joy, and everything good. Through prayer we can bring to God every big thing and every small thing we face in life. We can receive from Him the covering we need to shelter us, and the food we need to sustain us. Through prayer we receive the cleansing we need to have a pure heart, the renewing we need to have a right spirit, and the grace we need to walk in a way that pleases Him. Prayer is our doorway into victory, our gateway into praise, and our walkway into holiness.

Today, Jesus lives for you, and as your great High Priest He is interceding for you everyday. Think of it as you get up in the morning, as you go through your day, as you face your enemies, as you walk through your problems, as you return to your home, and as you rest in your bed—Jesus, the One who knows you best and loves you most, is praying for you.

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25 NKJV).

My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you (John 17:9 NLT).

My Monday Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Jesus, as we come to You, help us to remember all that You demonstrated and explained to us about prayer. Help us to pray like You pray. Help us to pray hard prayers—prayers for people we have conflict with, people who don't follow You, and circumstances we don't understand. We only have a vision for tomorrow...but You know all of our tomorrows. Please answer our prayers according to Your will for our life. We love You and ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

#7  The prayer of praise and thankfulness

"For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Father, You are my almighty, unfailing heavenly Father! I am secure in Your authority, in Your watch-care, and in Your covering. In Your power I find courage and strength; in Your kingdom I find my appointed place and purpose; in Your glory I find my true worship and discover the wonders of who You are.

In Jesus' name, amen.

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen (Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV).

-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

#4  The prayer of mercy and kindness

"Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

Father, how merciful and gracious You are.

My sin had separated my life from Yours. It is only because of the shed blood of Your Son that I have been forgiven, that I can call You Father, and that I have a relationship and fellowship with You. From my heart may there be a free flowing stream of Your mercy, grace, and forgiveness to others.

In Jesus' name, amen.

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. 7 Prayers to Your Father, Part 1

Hello Friends!
As we turn to focus on our relationship with God, we will be featuring Roy's series "7 Prayers to Your Father" based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:9-13. May this remind us how Jesus invites and instructs us to pray to our Father, HIS Father, each time we come to Him. We pray our prayer life will grow in the coming days and weeks, leading to a fruitful and powerful relationship with Him.

1.  The prayer that calls God “Father.”

"Our Father in heaven..."

Father, because of the salvation I have found in Your Son, I am not an outsider or a stranger in Your family. I am Your child. Adopted and redeemed. Thank You for coming to make Your home in me, and providing for me, a home with You, forever.

You are a good, loving, and caring Father.

Whom have I in heaven but You, and apart from You there is no other.
-In Jesus' name, amen.

The Holy Spirit Book: A Prayer; The Purpose of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit Book: A Prayer; The Purpose of the Holy Spirit
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

LORD, have your way with me.

I want to walk in the HOLY SPIRIT, and walk with the HOLY SPIRIT in surrender, in dependency and total trust. I place no confidence in my flesh—in my own resources, in my own strength, or in my own understanding. I lay aside all the things in my life that are about me and my own way. I take up my cross to follow You; I depend on the HOLY SPIRIT to be like You; I receive from the HOLY SPIRIT all I need to live for You, this day and in all my tomorrows.

Amen.

What Makes Prayer Possible?

What Makes Prayer Possible?
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Each of us has a need to pray and we carry many requests in our hearts. But have you ever wondered why we can pray at all? How is it possible for us, who by nature are unholy, to come confidently and boldly before a holy God?

God does not hear or answer prayer based upon our merit. Thankfully, God has not left it up to us to earn our way into His presence.

The way for us to come confidently and boldly to God in prayer is by the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ blood is the perfect, complete, and eternally acceptable way into God’s presence. Without the blood of Jesus none of us could come before God and pray.

We cannot add to Jesus’ blood atonement and we cannot diminish its power. Our good deeds do not gain us access to God, and our failures do not cancel our access.

Whenever you draw near to God in prayer always keep your eyes of faith upon the blood of Jesus. If you look upon yourself, instead of Jesus’ blood, your prayer life will suffer and the devil will quickly accuse you of being unworthy, or tempt you to “do more” so you can become worthy.

How precious is the blood of Jesus. His blood cleanses you, covers you, and makes the throne of God a place of grace and not judgement.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
And having an high priest over the house of God;
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:19-23 KJV).

Drawing Near: In Jesus' Name

Drawing Near: In Jesus' Name
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Your authority in prayer comes, not through the merits of your name, but through the awesome power in the name of Jesus Christ. In His name is the provision for every need you face. When you pray, you come before the Father clothed in Jesus' righteousness and covered by His blood. He is your shield and protector, your banner, and your Mighty Warrior. His light has overcome the darkness; His truth has broken every lie; His power has broken every bondage; His love has conquered every fear. It is in Jesus' name that you can pray with boldness and overcoming faith.

NEW Series: Drawing Near

Drawing Near
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:19-25 NKJV).

.....

When you come to God in prayer, you come to your Father. He wants you to come as a child who is loved, who is accepted, who is cared for, and who is secure. He wants you to come in openness, in confidence, in truthfulness. He waits to hear your heart and to share His heart with you.

Through prayer you can gather the riches of heaven and bring them down to earth...you can delight in the beauty of heaven and carry it in your heart...you can enjoy the fellowship of heaven and walk in it throughout the day.

.....

"Draw near, then, seeking soul, with boldness; Draw near with the lowly boldness of a child—with the humble confidence of a son. Dear are you to your Father. Sweet is your voice to Him. Precious is your person, accepted in His Beloved. You cannot come too boldly—you cannot come too frequently—you cannot come with too large requests. You are coming to a King, that King your Father, that Father viewing you in His beloved Son. Oh, hang not back. Stand not afar off. He now holds out the golden scepter, and says, "Come near; what is your request? Come with your temporal want. Come with your spiritual need. Ask what you will, it shall be granted you. I have an open hand, and a large heart." -Octavius Winslow

My Morning Prayer: Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm

My Morning Prayer: Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm

These past few days we have focused on the 23rd Psalm, verse-by-verse and word-by-word. As we start the New Year, let’s pray Psalm 23 with detail and intention. May we remember the fullness of who He is in our life, in our world, and who He wants to be for us, and to us. He is aware of everything going on and will walk with us through it. He is intentional in the things He allows, and has purpose in it, to bring people closer to Him and to enlarge His kingdom. He is never caught off-guard, never surprised. He has a plan, and we are included in it. He is the Lord of everything in our past, and our future. May we live the coming year bringing Him honor and glory. -Marina

Prayer Reflections from the 23rd Psalm
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

1. The Lord is my shepherd.
What could be sweeter or dearer than to know that no one is nearer to your heart, your soul, or your deepest desires than the Lord. His caring eyes are upon you, His protecting hands are over you, His assuring voice speaks peace to you, His loving heart responds to you. You can come to Him in quietness and confidence, in faith, in hope, in trust, in thanks, in worship, in praise, and in prayer.

2. I shall not be in want.
You will never lack anything that His grace cannot give you, and He will give to you over and over again. Because His supply is abundant you will never be without…because His heart is full you will never be empty… because His resources are endless there will never be a time when He cannot meet your needs. Your life couldn’t be in better hands. As you come to Him in prayer remember how much He desires to bless you.

3. He makes me lie down in green pastures.
The place God daily brings you to is green with life and nourishment…Cool with delight and refreshing…pleasant with freedom and beauty. It is a place of rest to quiet your heart…a place of hope to renew your spirit…a place of joy to delight your soul. You are so blessed to be able to share the Lord’s quiet company. It pleases His heart to hear your heart speak words of praise and thanks to Him.

4. He leads me beside quiet waters.
In your quiet times or busy times God has a quiet place for you to rest. As you gaze upon the waters of the Holy Spirit, you will see the reflection of His face. His waters are present to wash you, delight you, and refresh you.  They will bring you rest from all your fears, worries, cares, and anxieties. In His quiet place there is no weight upon you, no confusion around you, and no clouds over you. It is the place where you can peacefully open your heart to Him.

5. He restores my soul.
It is delightful to come before the Lord in quietness, in adoration, and in prayer. As you kneel at His feet and gaze upon His face, renewal gently comes. In your weariness you will be refreshed, in your weakness your strength will be renewed, in your heaviness your heart will sing a new song. His wings will be your covering, His faithfulness will be your shield, His loving kindness will be your sweet reward. Beautiful are His ways with you.

6. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
As you walk the paths of prayer you will be guided into everything that is true and right…into all that is best for you and others…into all that will take you to the highest expressions of His love. He will lead you by His way, by His words, and by His will. He will guide you down the paths that lead you straight to His heart. Each prayer He answers will be for your good and for His glory.

7. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
The greatest thing your heart can experience when you are alone with God is His presence. He is greater than any of His gifts. What He is to you is greater than anything He can do for you. His lovingkindness is better than life…in His presence is fullness of joy…at His right hand are pleasures forevermore. When God gives Himself to you there is nothing higher that He can give.

8. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Comfort in prayer comes by knowing that the One you look to is always looking out for you. He is not only with you, but He is actively doing everything that is necessary to keep you safe within His care. You can be assured that above you are His tender mercies…around you is His unfailing love…and underneath you are His everlasting arms.

9. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Even though you may have a lot of things that come against you, you have so much more going for you. While your enemies try to rob you of your joy, God spreads a lavish table before filled with spiritual blessings of goodness, kindness, and love. As you come to Him in prayer you find a table your soul can delight in…your faith can feast upon…and your heart can rejoice in.

10. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
When you come to God in times of personal dryness, when you are in need of help or healing, or when you are in a desert place, you will find His loving hand pouring out the oil of His Spirit upon you—comforting, refreshing, and filling you to overflowing. His oil heals and soothes, calms and relieves, and causes your face to shine with the glow of His presence.

11. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.
How glorious and wonderful are the things that follow you into prayer—kindness, beauty, goodness, mercy, grace, favor, blessings, faithfulness and lovingkindness. In His great generosity He has given to you freely, bountifully, cheerfully. He has given you the finest, the highest, the deepest, and the fullest measure of His love. All that He has given He will continue to give to you all the days of your life.

12. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Prayer is for time, not for eternity. Now you are a pilgrim with needs to be met and people to minister to along the way. One day you will be in your Father’s house, the need for asking will have passed away and only praise will remain. In Jesus, your future is secure and your destiny certain. Today is the time to bring before Him all those who, like you, are in need of hope and encouragement on their journey home.

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23:1-6).

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Patience

My Monday Prayer: A Prayer of Patience
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to me. Thank You that the Holy Spirit is the source and the river of Your life being lived in me. Thank You that I can fully and confidently trust in the work of the Holy Spirit in my life, for the Holy Spirit’s nature is exactly the same as Yours.

Holy Spirit, I yield to Your control. According to the Word of God that You have inspired, I acknowledge that the impatient demands of my flesh have been crucified with Christ and shall not have dominion over me. I take the control of my life out of my own hands and place it into Yours.

Spirit of God, I receive, by faith, the fruit of Your patience. I turn away from the attitude that insists things must work out according to my timetable, my plans, and my expectations. Bring me into agreement with the ways You work and Your perfect timing in my life. Produce in me a quiet heart and fill me with the fruit of joyfulness as I learn to wait upon the Lord. Work in me, Your beautiful work of righteousness.

My Monday Prayer: Prayer of Grace

My Monday Prayer: Prayer of Grace
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 2 Corinthians 9:8 KJV

Lord, thank You for Your grace. It is by grace that my heart was drawn to You—grace that was extended, not in limited measure, but  in abundance; not sprinkled down, but poured out; not just enough to get me by, but more than enough to bring me through as more than a conqueror.

I receive Your grace—I run to it, welcome it, embrace it. Thank You for not putting Your grace on hold or hiding it away for safe keeping. Thank You for making it available to me now, when I need it most.

Your grace brings me riches in my poverty; sufficiency in my inadequacy; abundance in my lack. I thank You for being so gracious—for Your heart of grace that is reaching out, for Your throne of grace that invites me in, and for Your gift of grace. Thank You for Your only begotten Son, who has embraced me in His arms of mercy, and who brings to me the fullness of grace and truth.
