My Morning Prayer: Because of the Resurrection

My Morning Prayer: Because of the Resurrection
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

Because of the Resurrection
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Because of the resurrection:
You still have a Redeemer who will keep you.
You still have a Shepherd who will lead you.
You still have a Friend who will be with you.
You still have a Lord who will use you.
You still have a High Priest who will pray for you.
You still have a Provider who will care for you.
You still have a Bridegroom who will come for you.

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen (Revelation 1:18 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Father God, You alone have given us the provision—through the blood of  your Son Jesus, to be reconciled with You. Thank You for restoring us to You, that we might have fellowship with You and live with You forever in the heavenlies. Help us to remember these aspects of your character as You continue to be our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend, Lord, High Priest, Provider and Bridegroom. Teach me to leave space in my life to allow You to work Your will IN me and THROUGH me. I want to live a resurrected life with You forevermore. In Jesus's name, amen.

Look In the Tomb

Look In the Tomb
-Roy Lessin

When facing obstacles, look in the tomb-
The stone was rolled away there!

When surrounded by darkness, look in the tomb-
The light of a new dawn shines there!

When things are perplexing, look in the tomb-
The message of angels can be heard there!

When victory is uncertain, look in the tomb-
The power of the resurrection is seen there!

When you need to be reassured, look in the tomb-
Jesus is NOT there!

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay (Matthew 28:6).

Forgiven Part 1: Darkness

Forgiven Part 1: Darkness
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The next few weeks, we will be posting more frequently in preparing our hearts for the celebration of Resurrection Sunday. We will feature the booklet "Forgiven, Heart Reflections by Roy Lessin" as this book was originally created to be used as a "book-style tract," offering the Gospel in a way that an unbeliever would come to understand what we, as Christians, believe and focusing on the redemptive work of Jesus.

Please feel free to share this content with your friends who may not fully understand the meaning of Easter, or why we celebrate.

We pray that as you read, reflect and pray through the writings presented, your hearts will be turned towards Jesus, and your faith renewed.
Grace and Peace,
Marina for Roy Lessin, and Meeting in the Meadow
.......

'This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. For God, who said, 'Light shall shine out of darkness,' is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.' 'To open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.' 'Because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high shall visit us, TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, to guide our feet into the way of peace' (1 John 1:5, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Acts 26:18, Luke 1:78-79 Emphasis added).
.
Spiritual darkness is the absence of God's truth in our hearts and lives. We can have an education and still be in darkness. We can study philosophy and religion and still be in darkness. We can go to church or do social work in our community and still live in darkness. We can be sincere or be tolerant of others and what they believe and still be in darkness.

Darkness is unbelief. Darkness is deception, keeping us from the knowledge of God. Darkness is separation, keeping us from the fellowship of God. Darkness is isolation, keeping us from the presence of God. Darkness is something we should treat as an enemy yet when we are in sin, we treat it as a friend. We like darkness—it hides us from being exposed for who we really are. The sin in us runs deep, and the darkness is our cloak.

Although we may be hiding from Him, He is not hiding from us. Jesus seeks us out in our darkness. He is standing near us, clothed with white garments...covered with glory...reaching out with arms of mercy...inviting us into the marvelous light of His forgiveness and love.
.
Lord,
Deliver me from the darkness of my own way. Place Your truth within me so I may know You and Your ways. I want to come out of my hiding and walk with You in Your light. I know that nothing is hidden from You; You know me inside and out. I release every lie and deception that has kept me from You. Thank You that You can take me from the kingdom of darkness and place me into the kingdom of light. I welcome Your light and love into my life.
Amen

Jesus Died for You

Jesus Died for You
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The message of the cross is a message of God’s amazing love and grace. The Bible tells us that Jesus died for you.

Jesus dying for you is a glorious truth. He died for your sins. He took your sins upon Himself. He was your sacrificial lamb. His blood made atonement for you.

He was your substitute, dying in your place—taking your judgment, your death, your hell. He died as your Redeemer, shedding His blood to buy you back to God as His possession, and to bring you the heart-freeing joy of knowing Him.

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer: The Glory of the Cross

My Morning Prayer: The Glory of the Cross
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

The Glory of the Cross
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The cross tells us:
We are sinners and need a Savior.
We are lost and need to be found.
We are guilty and need mercy.

The cross points us to Jesus:
His shed blood cleanses us.
His grace justifies us.
His finished work makes us whole.

The cross assures us:
Jesus is the only way.
God’s love held nothing back.
We have been bought with a price.

Far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14 ASV).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Father, now that our Easter finery is put away, the company has gone home, the church halls are empty—let us not forget that the purpose of the cross was not meant for one day or even for one week, but for our lifetime and to have eternity with You. Thank You God for Your love, so perfect. Thank You Jesus, for laying Your life down as the price for our sins. Thank You Holy Spirit for walking with us each moment of every day, every season, that we can be comforted by You and never be left alone.

Your presence in my life is to be remembered every day, and my freedom from sin is meant to be celebrated! God, we give You the glory for making a way that will never end. Thank You for creating me to be Yours. Amen.

Jesus loved you to death…

Jesus loved you to death…
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus loved you to death…
And He rose from the dead
to love you forever!

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:32, Romans 8:35, Romans 8:38, Romans 8:39 NKJV).

Who Sent Jesus to the Cross?

Who Sent Jesus to the Cross?
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Who sent Jesus to the cross? Was it the Jewish leaders? Was it a mob? Was it the Roman government? None of these were powerful enough, influential enough, or persuasive enough to be able to do it. When Jesus spoke to Pilate, Jesus reminded him that he had no power to crucify Him even though Pilate thought he did as the Roman ruler. When the disciples tried to keep Jesus from being arrested, he reminded them that if He wanted to escape the cross He could call a multitude of angels to come and rescue Him. The One who sent Jesus to the cross was God the Father. This was the reason why God sent His Son into the world. It was the will of Jesus to embrace the Father’s will. Jesus said that it was for this reason that He came. It pleased the Father to bruise Him, and it brought joy to the Son to please the Father.

When Jesus died upon the cross He didn’t die as a martyr, He died as a sacrifice for sin. He didn’t die for His sins, for He was without sin—He died to make atonement for us. He died so that each person who turns from his or her sin, and believes in Him, could be forgiven. He gave His life freely, and lovingly. God sent His Son because He loves you. Jesus shed His blood because He loves you. Jesus didn’t die just for the world—He died for you. Do you know how much you are loved? You are loved with all the love that God could give.

Jesus took the judgement for our sin upon Himself so that we wouldn’t have to be judged. He tasted death so that we wouldn’t know the sting of death. He descended into hell so that we would never need to know its awful grip upon our lives. And after three days He rose from the grave so that we could know resurrection life. His resurrection is our victory song, our shout of joy, our daily praise, and our eternal hope. Because He lives we shall also live. He has promised it, He has guaranteed it. He has secured it. Jesus is our life and heaven is our home. He is the perfect gift that we can know and enjoy forever.

“Now is My soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.” (John 12:27)

“Therefore doth My Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father.” (John 10:17-18)

Then saith Pilate unto him, "Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify Thee, and have power to release Thee?"
Jesus answered, "Thou couldest have no power at all against Me, except it were given thee from above….” (John 19:10-11)

Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. (Acts 4:33)

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)

“I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen.” (Revelation 1:18)

Loved to Death

Loved to Death
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

I’ve been reading about Jesus’ time before the high priest and others, including the false witnesses, after He was arrested. He said nothing to defend Himself against the lies, but when asked if He was “the Messiah, the Son of God,” He spoke the truth and said “yes”. That “yes” sent Him to the cross.

I’ve been thinking…if I was in that situation I would have done the opposite. I would have defended myself against the false witnesses and remained silent about revealing my true identity, knowing it would mean my death. I would have done everything I could do to save myself…

Thank You, God, that Your Son wasn’t like me! He loved me too much to seek a way of escape and leave me to perish! Jesus loved me to death!

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God’s Heart Touching Ours

God’s Heart Touching Ours
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life so that we could be loosed from the power of sin and delivered from the power of Satan. He came because He loved us, and He knew how much we needed Him. He came to make the heart of His Father glad, and to bring His joy into our lives. He came to the lowly place so that He could lift us to the highest place. He became poor in earthly things so that He could make us rich in heavenly things. He laid aside His glory and took up our humanity…He laid aside the praises of the heavenly host and made Himself of no reputation…He laid aside His heavenly home and dined in the home of sinners…He laid down His rights as God and took up a towel and a basin…He laid aside the splendor of His throne and endured the shame of the cross.

Imagine a large room filled with people. Each person in the room has great needs, and each person is looking to the other people in the room to help fill those needs. Each person that entered that room was inwardly saying as he or she arrived “Here I am. I have arrived. I have many needs. I am expecting each of you to do your very best to make me happy, and if you want me to love you and help you to meet your needs, then you must give me a reason to love you.” That is how all of us live our lives. We are self-centered. We have not come into the world to serve, but to be served. When Jesus came to us, He was like a man who entered that room full of needy people and said something completely different in His heart. Jesus said, “There you are. How may I serve you? I am here to meet your needs. How may I help you? You do not have to give me a reason to love you. I love you unconditionally, without reservation. I hold nothing back from you. I give you my all, willingly, happily, freely. Even if you choose to be my enemy, I will lay down my life for you.” There is only one place love like that can be found, and that is in the heart of God.

The greatest change that takes place within us is when God’s heart touches our hearts and we become extensions and expressions of His love to others. When the servant heart of Jesus is within us we will stoop in humility to serve others, instead of rising up in pride with the demand to be waited upon by others. It is only from the heart of Jesus that we are able to esteem others better than ourselves, love others as ourselves, and honor others instead of ourselves. Today, it is Jesus’ desire to put a towel over your arm, place a basin in your hands, put His love within your heart, and cause you to ascend the heights by having you serve.

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father
 (Philippians 2:1-11 NLT).

Extraordinary

Extraordinary
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The Old and New Testaments are not ordinary books—they are extraordinary. They are not natural works—they are supernatural. Together, these two testaments complete the Word of God. They do not contain Truth, they are Truth, and everything spoken in them perfectly reveals what God wants us to know about Himself and His purpose for our lives.

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are not just words written on paper, they are love words spoken from the heart of God, and they are living words breathed by the Spirit of God. The Scriptures can bring hope, produce faith, and change lives. They are bread that nourishes the hungry, a map that guides the seeker, a rock that establishes the believer, and a light that illumines the path for those who walk in God’s ways.

It has been said that the New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed, and that in the New Testament the Old Testament is revealed. In the Old we see the beginning of all things, in the New we see the end of all things. In the Old we see types and shadows, in the New we see substance and fulfillment. In the Old we see Mt. Sinai, in the New we see Mt. Calvary. In the Old we see the letter, in the New we see the Spirit. In the Old we hear the voice of the prophets, in the New we hear the voice of The Son.

Together, the books tell one story. It is His story. It is the story of redemption revealed in time and space, through real people and actual events. It is the story of The Redeemer and the redeemed.

Jesus is the establisher of the law and the fulfiller of the Law, He is the message of prophecy and the fulfillment of prophecy, He is the promised sin bearer and the One who gave His life for our sins.

In Jesus Christ the Old and New Testaments are like two musical movements that come together to make one glorious symphony…they are like the two lenses on a pair of binoculars that bring God’s image close and into focus…they are like the flame of two burning candles that come together to make one glorious light.

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other (Psalm 85:10).

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by Thy name, O Lord God of hosts (Jeremiah 15:16).

Look in the Tomb

-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

When facing obstacles, look in the tomb-

The stone was rolled away there!

When surrounded by darkness, look in the tomb-

The light of a new dawn shines there!

When hope seems unsure, look in the tomb-

The grave clothes are neatly folded there!

When victory is uncertain, look in the tomb-

The power of the resurrection is seen there!

When you need to be assured Jesus is with you,
look in the tomb-He is not there!

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay (Matthew 28:6 NKJV).

“I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28.20 NKJV).

My Morning Prayer: What a Savior!

My Morning Prayer
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

What a Savior!
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

When we look upon the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in the light of Scripture, there is so much beauty, wonder, and amazement for our hearts to see—

There is the forgiveness of sins provided through His redeeming work;

The free and overflowing abundance of His grace;

The glory and the power of His triumph over sin, death, and Satan;

The majesty and splendor of His ascension to the right hand of the Father;

The exaltation, power, and authority of His name that is above all other names…Jesus Christ the Lord!

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Father God, You are so loving and kind to have provided your son Jesus as a Savior and sacrifice for my sins. To say thank you seems so small a statement in light of all Jesus is to me. Help me to live honorably day to day, growing the Kingdom of God, all for Your glory and honor. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Easter 2022, Part 5: Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #3, Jesus Wins

Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #3, Jesus Wins
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

For all who wonder what the future holds, it is this...Jesus wins! He who has won on the cross, who is winning in us by the Holy Spirit’s presence, will reveal His majesty over all things when He comes again to reign upon the earth as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. What a day! What a triumph it will be!

It is Jesus’ name that every tongue shall confess. It is King Jesus to whom every knee shall bend. All things will be under Jesus’ feet. He will rule with righteous authority. The rod of iron will be in His hand.  It is Jesus who will have the final say. He is the first and the last. He has the keys of Hades and death. He alone will be worthy to take the scroll and open its seals. He alone is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing. His win will be forever!

Then he said to me, “It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the thirsty water without price from the fountain of life. The victorious shall inherit these things” (Revelation 21:6-7 Phillips).

Easter 2022, Part 4: Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #2, Jesus is Winning

Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #2, Jesus is Winning
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Today, Jesus brings His victory to our defeated lives. He who overcame every enemy now lives His overcoming life in us. In our spiritual warfare He is winning the fight, in our defenselessness He is our armor, in a world that is falling apart He is our solid rock and sure foundation.

Jesus has not left us alone, but has sent the Holy Spirit to fill us, empower us, and equip us. It is the Holy Spirit in us who is making it possible for us to walk in Jesus’ winning ways.

Thanks be to God who leads us, wherever we are, on Christ’s triumphant way and makes our knowledge of Him spread throughout the world like a lovely perfume! (2 Corinthians 2:14 Phillips).

Easter 2022, Part 3: Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #1, Jesus Won

Jesus’ 3 Greatest Triumphs: Triumph #1, Jesus Won
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus’ victory on the cross was the victory of all victories. No one on earth or in the heavens could have done it. No way! Impossible! If Jesus lost, all was lost, and we would be without salvation.

Jesus defeated every enemy—sin, death, hell; every foe—satan, demons, principalities; every dominion—kingdoms of the world, powers of evil, strongholds of darkness. Forgiveness is ours, deliverance is ours, redemption is ours, and hope is ours because Jesus won!

Christ has utterly wiped out the damning evidence of broken laws and commandments which always hung over our heads, and completely annulled it by nailing it over his own head on the cross. And then, having drawn the sting of all the powers ranged against us, he exposed them, shattered, empty and defeated, in his final glorious triumphant act! (Colossians 2:14-15 Phillips).

The hymn writer, Lewis E. Jones, penned these faith inspiring words, “There is power in the blood of the Lamb.”

What kind of power? There is power in the blood to atone, to forgive, to redeem, to save, to cleanse, to justify, to sanctify, and to give us access to the Father in prayer.

One day, the blood of the Lamb of God will make it possible for you to be in heaven and stand before the throne of God to be a part of the greatest worship service ever known on earth or in heaven...

I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10 NLT).

How powerful is the blood of Jesus? Here is what His shed blood has provided for you:

Redemption
Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins (Romans 3:24 NLT).

Atonement
More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation (Romans 5:11 ESV).

Propitiation
Whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus’ crucifixion] (Romans 3:25 AMP).

Justification
So then as through one trespass [Adam’s sin] there resulted condemnation for all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men (Romans 5:18 AMP).

Reconciliation
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:19 NLT).

Sanctification
God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace (1 Peter 1:2 NLT).

Salvation
And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16 NIV).

While we continue to remember the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood for our sins, we are able to celebrate that the story didn’t end on the cross, but continued with the revelation of the empty tomb—and it didn't end in the empty tomb, but as He revealed His risen self to those that He loved. Because He lives, we know we will live with Him in the heavenlies! Hallelujah! -Marina
